I had 33's and 3.07 until a couple of weeks ago. Off road it was pretty limiting. 4X4 low only 4X4 Hi was useless, to much speed. On road 5th gear was useless. I would drive down the freeway at 65 and 2200 RPM.

I've run it and as others have said its pretty unpleasant. 5th gear is useless unless your going downhill. Its driveable but it's frustrating.

Mine had 3.07 and 31" tires. My trip yo the store involves a mountain, I gain a mile of altitude in 16 miles of road. It was a dog untill I installed 3.73 gears.

I did for about 2 years. Best thing (and most expensive) was getting it regeared. When I lived on flat ground it was tolerable at best, but when I moved to the mountains it was horrible. The first time I drove it after getting new gears it felt like they added 2 cylinders to my 4.0! I definitely don't regret it.

I run 31s right now and don't think it's all that bad, I'm just trying to figure out what the transition would be like

I just went to 4.56 with my 33's what a world of difference. It can pull in all gears but it is still drivable at freeway speeds. It now drives like a jeep should. I have not had it off road yet but i am getting the oil changed in the differentials tomarrow, the breakin process will be complete and I can do some wheeling. It would have voided my warrently on the new axles if I had not followed the 500 mile breakin process.
