Good? Bad?
Looking at 31"
The 31" BFG A/T's that are on it now are very nice on the highway but I have no experience with them offroad or how well they wear.
I would preffer a hard rubber(longer wearing?) over the slight advantage of soft rubber.

I've ran the 31's, 33's and I'm ordering the 35's here in the next month or so. I've had a great experience with them. I use them rock crawling, trail riding and a good amount of highway miles. They also work really well in the snow. I don't do any 'mudding' but when going through muddy spots on the trail they clean out really well. I was running the goodyear mtr/k tires but I'm going back to the coopers on my DD. They are a MT tire so don't expect them to last as long as your BFG's but they do have a pretty great tread life, granted that you rotate them and keep a good alignment. FWIW, I also ran the BFG AT KO's in 31's and 33's and they are a great tire, don't expect great things off road but for the casual wheeler, they aren't a bad option. Hope this helps.
I'm running the 35's now. Wear is great and road noise isn't loud at all. I would buy cooper again for any vehicle I own. They make a great tire at a great price.
I have about 1000 miles on them since I changed and no noticeable wear. I even have some of the molding nubs left on them.
we just replaced out 2 fronts otherwise I probably would've switched to the STT. We got the AT3, still good for me. I like 'em. local cooper shop offered free rotations, and free road hazard with each tire bought. and a 55,000 mile warranty but the STT isn't warranted.
I've got them in 35's. Aside from being undergeared for that big of a tire, they're great. Did fine in snow last year, not loud. Only weakness I've found so far is rain/wet road.

I run their 33 nd i love them. As far as snow. They did fine here in Big Bear socal. Nd theyre better than the old goodyear mtrs i had in the rain/wet. Ive only herd good things from other ppl that have run them too. And yes they are really quite on the road. Ide get them again for sure if i didnt already deside that i wana try the nitto trail grapplers. And they are wearing very well too. Got about 15k ne not even close to half way down on the tread.
They've been great in snow, mud, rocks, sand, and wet conditions for me. Lots of siping for a MT. I run the 33x12.5s. Definitely getting them again after these are done.
FWIW I have about 30k miles on them and still about 30-40% tread left.

I'm on my 3rd set of the Cooper SST's. IMO they are worth the $$. Quiet but aggressive and as long as you do your part and rotate them properly you will be far impressed with the miles you will get from them. I got 47k from my 1st set and 52k on the 2nd set.
I run the Cooper SST Maxx 285/75/16 on a 8 in rim and it is incredible! It is a 10 ply tire but the ride is great. There is practicably no noise. It looks as awesome as it rides. I get many comments on how tuff they look. On a scale from 1-10 I rate them a 10 for sure.

Yeah they are E load range so you do have to consider that as they would not provide as good of a ride as a C or D range tire.. That being said I have never heard of a rough ride do to them being a E range tire yet. They are a aggressive all terrain with a strong sidewall which makes them desirable for a DD/WW 4x4. The biggest down fall they have currently is there are only like 8 sizes available for them.
I love these tires! They really do great in everything I've thrown them at. They did AWESOME in Moab. While other guys were using their lockers and slipping and sliding (even the jeeps on 35s and all the longer 4 drs) I just went right up with my little 32's. I've been on lots of sharp rocks and have chunked them a bit but have not cut a tire.Right now mine have about 20,000 and i still have at least 40% tread.
Also no need to worry that they are load range E. They flex really well and ride good. I really wanted to get the MTR/K for my next set, but the STT's are awesome and i think i will stick with them. They really don't get enough recognition.
I had them in the 33" flavor and they weren't bad. When I went to 35" i choose the MTR's which I like better over the coopers.
