till now what mods did you notice? i noticed the following:

OME suspension
33" KM2
snorkel (safari maybe?)
and a winch.
I am not sure about the lockers, sometime it seems that it has it and sometime it does't.

It probably has selectable lockers or something. I love how the Asian guy says the D35 breaking was a freak accident....I don't think his qualifications are correct....

As the video shows, he didn't do anything to break it, but we didn't see everything

Its an SE. It has a 4 cylinder. X has a 6 cylinder. Sport has an optional upgraded D44. But se, x, sport, and Sahara all came with D35 rear but the sport and Sahara had an optional upgraded D44.

when i first learned of the show i was hoping they would use a different wrangler for each episode but so far, 3 episodes, it is the same wrangler. they break it in each episode, so clearly they have done many repairs to this one vehicle between each shooting.

and just like in episode 1 and 2, in episode 3 not one time did they refer to it as a jeep, or a wrangler, or even a vehicle or a truck....they always call it a car. Must be they are married to the show's title.

its been fun to watch but i cannot see it having any legs if its the same two guys and same wrangler in every episode.

It's cool they finally did something like this with Jeep but just like all of these in the wild shows, everything is staged. you can't tell me that every time they go somewhere that something breaks. It even says before the show that when they get into trouble that they receive help from the producers and staff. I think they picked the right jeep just not the right people. If you ask me, the shows kinda weak!

I think it has to do with copyrights. The jeep sticker on the sides also removed.

Considering the lack of upgrades, I think they should rename the show "One Jeep Too Cheap".

It's very annoying how staged the show is. And how much the Wu guy doesn't know about the jeeps limits or driving off-road yet he is supposedly an off-road racing veteran. Also most of the things that break on the jeep are obviously staged.

They couldn't use "Jeep" in the show title because when they came up with it, Jeep hadn't signed on as a sponsor yet... which is probably why they never use the term "Jeep" when talking about it either. Jeep jealously guards its Jeep name so the show's lawyers probably just said to never say the word Jeep just to avoid any possible problems.

After last night's bit where Wu used a tree branch to "repair" the igntion wire that had a crack in its insulation, I finally had to say "enough" and I turned it off to watch Bar Rescue. I'd bet $$$ that ignition wire "problem" was totally faked and purposely staged by Wu to try to show how cool he is with fixes. Not to mention cracked insulation on an ignition wire wouldn't mean they couldn't complete their trip as they said it would.

The show has finally turned me off so bad, especially WU, that I don't think I'll watch it any more. The British guy is great, I'd probably watch the program if the second guy was like him, but Wu is just not someone I could stand being around more than two seconds. Wu is from San Diego too, where I live, I hope I never end up on the trail wtih him. What a joke he is.

With the bag it showed him having last night I'm not surprised he had Vaseline. And when I saw the plug wire part last night my wife had to tell me to shut up because I was literally screaming at the tv because of how stupid it was. He could have taken a wire from the stereo or somewhere else in the car and atleast made it a little more believeable

The show pretty much sucks. It's cool that there is a show with a jeep as the star, but Bill Wu is a tool. They try so hard to make him an "automotive expert" it just annoys the crap out of me. Cool concept, crappy execution.

Anyone notice that it's got a diesel in it? A couple of times you could def tell by the engine sounds. I'd love to have one of those export TJ's with the diesel. The episode i watched they had license plates from Chile. I gotta admit it was cool to see them strap a tree log under the LR axle and drive it into town with no LR tire.

No. Its the stock gas 4 cylinder. Noticed how he said it didn't have enough power at the beginning of the last episode

not to mention who ever has that many straps and pulleys in their jeep?

I also like how we never really got a good look at the supposed "cliff" - im pretty sure they could have safely coasted down without all of the strap/pulley/harness dramatization. But maybe im wrong.

I actually thought the twig wire was kind of cool, although I doubt you can run electricity through a stick for that long.

Yeah plug wire was stupid just wrap more tape around it. Im sure that would have at the very least been good enough. I was happy to see the british guy didnt hack the seatbelt out of it last night. .

Not to side track but Bar Rescue is a great show. I find its a good adaptation of Kitchen Nightmares.

The climate controls and distributor say its a pre 00. We should also try to consolidate all of our posts/responses into one thread. I think there are about 3 or 4 now.

Look at the dash font. They updated it in 01. They also say its 10 years old. So its a 2002 SE.

Well we're probably both right, I believe they switched jeeps because I remember seeing one with a snorkel and one without. The jeep I'm referring to is the one from the first episode.

Y in the hell did they repel down that hill they got a winch. I guess the easy way isn't as dramatic for tv.

My thoughts exactly, winches are used to lower vehicles back down hills as easily as they winch Jeeps up hills... but as you noted it wouldn't have been as dramatic as that ridiculous block & tackle they used instead.

Not to mention that hill wasn't even that steep. We have a local drop-off called Heart Attack Hill that is steeper than that that even newbie Jeepers go down without needing a block & tackle or winch.

This is my Jeep just after dropping over the edge onto Heart Attack Hill which is a lot steeper than the hill Bill Wu was sweating even with his block & tackle. Which leads me to believe if that hill scared Wu, he's not really an experienced offroader as the show claims he is.
