I picked up my '06 Golden Eagle (from my neighbor across the street) last Friday. I discussed taking the decals off because I am fairly conservative and thought it would look better all black.
Well I got reamed by friends who said it was a rare Jeep and I should leave them. I have had 12 Jeeps and the only ones I cherished with decals were my '83 Laredo and my '85 Renegade.
Should I leave them on or not? LOL
Yes, they had gold painted, steel "D" window type wheels. Lots of decals on them, generally special (tan denim seats and door panels) trim that didn't usually last very long, and that's about it. Much the same for the J-10 and Cherokee WT models with the GE package. Not really anything special.
A quick internet search for images of Golden Eagles will show you all the varieties and colors.
I'd keep em, but then again it's not my Jeep. I know if I was a potential buyer I'd want to knock down the price for the lack of decals because I would just buy a set and put them back on.
The *Original* GE was a rare gem.....the sequel is about as rare as a box of crap. Nothing special about it. (Not to insult the Jeep *under* the decals!).....It's just the MFG trying to hard....
ya, the vin will desigante it, but jeep has about 40 special editions now and only a rare few were built with the rubi options. the rest are just a marketing gimmick and rarely fetch any extra cash
hell, even the numbered tomb raider edition is a rubi and it still isnt worth a penny more than any other rubi
No...they are *trying* to make it look like they are going back...IMHO they fell far, far short of the mark. On the original CJ, it looks natural and well thought out. On the newer models, it just looks like a marketing gimmick. I would rip the stuff off too...but: to each their own. They could have done better, is what I am saying.
The only thing I am considering removing is the screaming chicken... It has a couple of the wing tips lifting and air bubbles. It is making me crazy. LOL
I'd be perfectly fine with them going to Texas...screw kommiefornia lol.
And just my opinion but those gold stickers are fugly. They'd have been removed within minutes of ownership. But I'm also the type that would remove Rubicon stickers if I had a Rubicon...lol.
I agree. I had a Cherokee WT and a J-10 that were both GE. The bird on those and the CJ was much better than now. The one they use now looks like a knock-off of a Pontiac Trans-Am bird.
that is a really sharp GE that looks to be in near mint condition....leave it as it is.....since the TJ GE was only made in 2006 it is one of the "rarer" TJ's.
come on, those decals are a classic throw back it would be a huge mistake to remove them.
I would swap out the gold wheels (no vehicle in history has looked good with gold colored wheels!), but retain them to put back when it comes time to sell.
I have one as well, Mine didnt come with the big ole bird on the hood. Which is fine with me. I don't care for it too much, I felt it was not symmetrical enough.
I like how the gold rims, and decals stick out.
One Thing i dont like is! The dang Bird head on the passenger side is facing the rear! i hate that!
As far as rare goes, I dont really know. The "Golden Eagle" Factor keeps me from putting holes in the body for racks, or cutting the fenders up for tube fenders, etc. It probably means nothing but i dont wanna do it.
