Gonna go pick up a set of the 3 ton jacks at Harbor Freight for $13.99 but before I did, I had a question. Is there any advantage of placing jacks under axle vs. frame or vice versa? The reason I'm asking is because the 3 ton jack are too short for placing under my frame because of lift but will work under axle.
Any thoughts?

I have a set of 6 ton stands, and 4 3 ton stands, and a floor jack.. I also have a good bottle jack, but have yet to ever use it.. Safety first, last and always....

In case someone wonders why 6 ton jack stands are consistently recommended for Jeeps and not 3 ton jack stands since 3 tonners are obviously strong enough... it's the height capacity difference between them. For a Jeep, 3 ton jack stands just don't get tall enough for all the types of projects common with Jeeps. You really need the added height capacity that a 6 ton model will give you. I have both 3 ton and 6 ton jack stands and I can't recall the last time I used my 3 ton stands.

I measured the clearance of my Jeep from frame and its 19". This is with suspension compressed.. once you lift the jeep up, I am sure it will go much higher for it to actually lift the wheel off the ground.

The max height of a 3 ton is 16.5" and a 6 ton is 24" .. so I am planning to get a 6 ton one.
