Thanks, but i've already got steps. Just tryin to figure out what to replace them with and not loose the convience of the step. Don't get me wrong i'm all for rocker guards but I need a step. I had hip surgery first of the year and gettin up in the jeep is easier with some kind of a step. normal rocker guards a a little tall for me to step up to.

Now I understand why you want the step a little lower. You can get the smittybuilt bars, but I would get a flat rocker guard under there first.

Then you would be really protected.

OK so what's a "flat rocker guard"? The rocker guard without the bar?

Ok i think i like the smittybilt src side armor guards. Pretty sure they'll work for me (I hope, oh well that's why I bought a jeep). So in the way of skid plates, If it could touch rock cover it up, right??

although i prefer the rocker mounted style rocker guards, i think the smittybilt ones will do fine. Ross (tazzmann may have heard of him) used to run the A-bar style and they did there job. he beat the absolute heck out of his jeep and the bars may have bent up a bit but not enough to hit the tub (he has 1" BL)

IMO you wanna cover up the underside first....Oil pan, Trans pan if auto, steering box, Any type of TT (tummy tuck) that you can find as well. Every inch of ground clearance you gain on the chassis equals 2" of tire. So anything you can do to lower your transfer case skid profile helps out on what you can get over on a smaller tire without getting high centered.
