Ash tray question

When cruising at night in my 99 TJ the ashtray area is pitch black, anyone ever mod their ash tray to be lit? All the other cars, and heeps that I've owned the tray was lit enough to get by. I'm tired of getting ash every where but the ash tray ! LOL! Of course I could always give up smoking.

I use a light that plugs into the lighter and lights up the area. Works Great!!

Marc,

At AutoZone and Checker, they sell neon blue (and red) lights that fit into your cigarette lighter slot. They come in different shapes and sizes. Mine is a Skull. These are really bright and provide alot of light. It doesn't sit high enough to shine down into your ashtray, but lights up the side of it VERY well, and should help you quite a bit. These things are only $5, so if it doesn't work out for you, it's not like you lost a fortune.

Other than that, I would say drill a small hole in the back of your ash tray and mount a single LED. Hope this helps.

SMOKE ON!

Ash tray lighting

Strip LCDs in the ash tray works great. .. Not as bright as it looks.. the radio puts out more light.. but the lighter and tray are lit nice.. GPS mounted at bottom.. no more finding the tray with my hand to ash.

I flick out the window. The only time my ashtray is used is when wheeling the trail...to tread lightly and not burn down the playground. lol

So your saying that as long as the trails are kept clean, who cares about the roads to get you to them? That's one of the dumbest things I've read for a while. IMO

Why not do your part to keep every where cleaner?

Mine didn't come with one. So.................

I use a glass drinking bottle with an air tight cap, if I feel the need to smoke something. The Jeep never smells like an ashtray.
