I am about to replace my radiator as it is seeping some fluid at the top reservoir. I have and 42RLE transmission so the ATF flows through the rad at the bottom.
How much fluid will I lose and do I need to clamp the bottom pipes closed to prevent more fluid from draining out while I install the new radiator?
The reason I am asking is because the MOPAR ATF +4 is the only ATF+4 available in my courtry and it comes at a premium so I only want to buy what I need.
Personally I'd let it drain until it stops on its own. That's a great way to do a partial ATF change which is never a bad idea. Top it back off with ATF+4.

That makes perfect sense and I would not mind doing that but money is tight at the moment -2nd little one on the way in 6 weeks. Atleast I did an atf and filter change 2500 miles ago.
Should receive my new rad tomorrow and then I need to install the new one before Saturday - taking my wife and 3 year old boy to a Jeep Spring day. 1 September is officially spring over here. At this point we have 60 confirmed Jeeps attending this day which we are thinking would be some kind of record over here.
I changed mine ('01), and had no fluid leak out at all. Checked everything after the leak check and all the levels were still good. I was/am confused, but it is what it is.
You all are going to go make me check it again, lol. It's time to check it anyway.
Changed my radiator and a friend's a few weeks ago. Mine is a 1997 2.5 auto, his is a 2000 2.5 auto. Only lost a few ounces if that.
