I do not personally have one (yet). I have been researching a lunchbox for some time now and have nothing but good things about the aussie. Good price, easy to install and pretty forgiving on the road.
I installed one a few months ago. Easy job, cheap, and works great. Rocks I used to have a struggle on now are cake to climb over.
Probably my best mod to date, and would recommend to any jeep owner to do. I have a d35 rear, so no locking until I do my 8.8 build, but for a d30 its a great improvement.
I currently have an Aussie and my previous rig had a Spartan. I prefer the Spartan because it is much quieter on the road especially when making sharp turns.
I ran a lockrite in the front for years.. Its a good for a low budget locker. The only negative I had was the turning radius when in 4wd. I now have a arb in the front and it has no drawbacks so far. In some situations I had to do a 3 point turn with the lockrite, and now with the arb I switch it off and just make a single turn. So if price matters go with a automatic. If you have the money do a selectable. Just my 2 cents.
The Aussie in my front differential has made an enormous difference in my getting about the wetlands around here. I just regret I waited so long to put it in.
I consider it a "selectible" automatic locker because when I don't need it, I "select" 2WD with a push on the handle and like magic the front end's not locked anymore. I can't see a true "selectible" being any easier to use than this.
What could one expect to pay to purchase and install an Aussie Locker on a Dana 30. What about putting one on the rear of a Dana 35, is it recommended? For me, tearing into my axles is not a DIY project.
Do yourself a favor and not put one in a dana 35 . The dana 35 is not advised to be locked unless you go with a super 35 kit ( includes locker ) . Lock the Dana 30 by all means.
Its a very easy install to install a locker. ( I did mine myself after watching a youtube video and can now install one in probably less then a hour )
Here is the link to the video thats basically step by step install.
I just installed an Aussie Locker in my D35c. Its an affordable and easy to install locker. Well made.
That being said, it's normal state is locked. When it differentiates, its clicks each time it forces open. Its easy to install. I didn't even have to take the tires off. There is a fitting tolerance that takes into account differences in dimensions from axle to axle. Mine was right at the low limit but still in tolerance. While others may have looser clearances, mine clicks very loudly while turning so be prepared for it not being as silent as some testify. Also, in the rear, since it is locked as soon as there is any driving force applied by the driveshaft, you will start experiencing that squirrelly feel when pulling out into traffic from a side street as it wants to force you straight while accelerating and turning at the same time. You definitely will avoid the quick "bug out" maneuver and allow yourself more a much more conservative gap in traffic. The effect is more noticeable when you've removed the rear track bar.
I installed mine a few months ago.
I have only used it in the snow and my rear is an open diff.
Absolutely terrific performance.
Well worth the time and cost.

Thanks for your input it sounds like a great choice for me and its really well $$$$. I have a Dana 44 with limited slip in the rear so together they should work for me. I only wheel lightly now, and I live in the mountains so this may be the answer.
Its super easy. Was the first time I did any work to the axle. I watched the same vid as above.
I paid 269 shipped off ebay a month or so ago. Add RTV and some diff fluid, you will still be in it for under 300, unless you do a hardened cross pin and replace the seals, which I did not do.
I had one in my D30 No issues. Sold it to a buddy of mone who is still running it. Put it in 8 years ago.
