Aussie Locker vs Lokka

Hey guys, I've been looking at an Aussie Locker for my front D30 and possibly rear D44 for a while now and recently came across the "Lokka" locker. After reading up a bit on it, it seems as though the Lokka is the Australian version of the Aussie (ironic) according to their website. They say the Lokka is known as the Aussie in the US. The Aussie is made in the USA and the Lokka is from Australia, of course, but the Aussie would run me ~$250-280 with shipping, whereas the Lokka is $198 shipped. From their looks, they seem to be the same thing with the only difference being the country in which they were manufactured. I know plenty of people have Aussies and swear by them. I just haven't heard much talk of Lokkas, at least in this country. Being on a college student budget, I'm starting to look more at the Lokka because of the price difference. Can anyone give me any insight between the two? I realize "you get what you pay for" and I'm not trying to cheap out. I just can't justify the extra money for essentially the same product. Thanks!

Saw a post / recommendation from Krisbman regarding the LOKKA. Never had heard of them but did some research and recommended them to a friend. He has ordered one for his 2000, D30 front so when it comes in, I will do the install. I will keep you posted. The early Aussies were made in Australia. The last one I installed in my son's 97 last summer was made in USA. Looked the same but was much noisier initially than the Australian made unit (in and out of 4wd) but has about 6K miles on it now and has quieted down substantially. Always has worked great, just like the others I have installed. BTW, you get a 3 year warranty on the LOKKA as opposed to a 2 year on the Aussie.

Sweet, I appreciate it. Please let me know. My plan is to make a purchase and install it sometime this summer. I did see the warranty differences and the Lokka keeps looking better.

Lokka came in for my friend's 2000, D30 front. Got it in Saturday. Looked and installed just like all the Aussies I have installed, works great, and much quieter than the American made Aussie I installed in my son's 97 last summer. Sounds more like the Australian made Aussies I have installed in the past. $198 delivered to your door, hard to beat. I'll continue to make this recommendation. Thanks to Krisbman for his posts regarding this unit.

As far as the difference in the warranty...post #16 in this thread is pretty interesting. Is a warranty worth anything if it isn't honored?

Another Lokka here. No issues, easy install. Great money spent. Very quiet on the road when turning, cant even tell its in there. In the trails it locks quick and pretty silently. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!
