Auto Trans Repair

In a 2000 4.0 auto, if the transmission is "shot" per owner, any idea on rebuild cost? I was on a site called automotix.net, they advertise a rebuilt with 1 year warranty for like 700, seemed cheap enough? Anyone know anything about it?
Or is getting it done locally the way to go?

Wow. I have never heard of a transmission rebuild for under a grand, but I must confess I have never priced out wrangler transmissions. My XJ transmission was going to cost me about $1800.

Yea, I'm used to seeing trannys in the 1200-1500 range... $700, if it's done right, is pretty good.

Just looked, says OEM price is $895, is that accurate?

yeah that's pretty cheap. um, I'd search the shop out online, and sniff around locally to see how good they are. if they do good work, go for it.

what's the transmission do? sometimes folks think they're fried and all they need is fresh fluid and a filter.

Adjusting the bands gets overlooked also.

Alan, a newbie in this club. I received an offer from an online dealer. The cost is $3000. is it fair for a trans repair? On the other hand...I could say that yours are pretty cheap...
