My 06 Rubicon automatic has just started with a hick-up shafting mostly from 1st to 2nd. 84,000 Miles, it just doesn't shaft smoothly. Sometime it's like the wheels drag for a split second. The other gears seem to shift okay, but maybe not as smoothly as before. The fluid looks good, I am wondering if is possibly an electrical problem? Are there codes that can be checked? I have an excellent transmission shop that has been referred, or should I take it to a Jeep dealership?
Thanks
I'm no transmission specialist, but the Jeep is out of warranty (unless you have an extended warranty). No real need to take it to the dealer. If you have a reputable transmission shop in the area, they can plug the vehicle in and see if its a programing issue or not. Most if, not all, newer transmissions today have transmission control electronics. Me personally would have no problem taking it to a local transmission shop if they have a good reputation.
ALWAYS. The dealerships hire pretty much anyone and are always looking for a quick and easy dollar.
