Auto zone wouldnt sell me plugs ???

So here is an interesting story

I read a post on here about changing from Champion plugs to NGK plugs.. heard it can help with gas MPG.. So I went to Auto zone to get new plugs at least anything but Champion.. The guy wouldnt sell me anything else.. said Champions are all that work well in 2.5 Jeeps.. Maybe he was saving me money dont know but it was odd that he was rock set on not selling me any other brand... wow
so I said.. Ok I wont change my plugs and walked away in a daze trying to figure out what had just happened.. He did have many other brands
SO what says YOU GUYS OUT THERE ??????????

P.Scott

If I have to go to Autozone, I go with part numbers printed out and I hand them the list of what I need.

go online to autozone.com and let them know about your experience and who the person was that would not sell you what you were wanting. Then stop in and talk to the manager of the store itself and see what they say, see what they offer you if anything , if not don't use that store

P.Scott I don't know how long you have had your jeep but NGK's are what came in the 2.5L/2.4L and the 4.0's from the factory. I've learned with both my jeeps to run the factory NGK coppers and they love and I know Jerry on here recommends the Autolites platinum and while they work I have found at least with mine to keep the factory style NGK's in them.

Maybe go to the store first & ask to speak to the manager & tell him you want to see if he/she wants to make things right with you BEFORE you give neg comments about the incident. Then at least he/she will have a chance to make things right before you blast them.

I agree. The NGK's just work best imho.

Find a new parts store.

I am a Commercial Account Manager for Advance Auto. I have 6 stores i work with. Our employees will give you reccommendations, but will always sell you what you decide on.

The only place that I have been able to find NGK is at the dealership. If anyone finds a chain that carries them, PLEASE let me know.

You must not have looked too hard, Advance Auto sells NGKs. I recently bought new plugs there but went with the Autolite double platinums at Jerry's recommendation.

This is what the NGK site says for the following year/engine size: 1997 2.5L

NGK 7252 FR5-1 Nickel Spark Plug
SKU: #FR5-1
ITEM: #NGK7252

I would follow the manufacture's recommendation if it was me. Anyone else care to throw there expertise regarding this matter?

If I would have been in your shoes I would have walked out. That would have been the third time I walked out of a Autozone store. I don't even walk in anymore, they are the worst in customer service. Every time I had something specific I wanted to buy and in every instance they wanted to sell me a different brand. Done with them

Time to find a new parts place. Oh and call the store manager and let them know about the tremendous help the person was.
