Service department insisted it was a 35 in the rear. Anyone know if the 05 sports with a D44 rear has a locker?

Nope... It could be a limited slip though.

The 44 rear has two tags on it. Willing to bet one of them says to use friction modifer, so it's most likely limited slip.
