Axle tube seals

I'm a little apprehensive about installing axle tube seals at each end of my Dana 30. Has anybody had any experience with this. Does it work or do they just fall out.

I'm wondering the same thing. I just did my inner seals and the plastic dust seals just don't look like they are enough protection.

The instructions for mine (haven't installed yet) calls for silicone between the seal body and axle tube. That should hold them in.

Maybe for now but, don't relax your vigil on them. They will eventually let the water and mud in and keep it in there. Then, that will work on your inner seals. If, Dana and Jeep thought they were the answer then, they would have them come with outer seals. Watery mud was in my axle tubes when, I pulled an axle on my last trail repair. I shot quality grease to them after each wheeling trip but, it didn't help. BTW, I avoid mud like the plague but, sometimes you can't avoid it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I guess like any performance part it will require some additional maintenance or occasion replacement. I crammed a 3.73, ARB locker along with a super 30 axle set and thought that investment could use some extra protection. I think I will install the tube seals.

My tube seals didn't come with instructions. The info you provided was right on. A thin film of silicone around the axle tube and seals slid in, no problem. Just wanted to say thanks for that.

Personally, I don't see the need for them for 99% of us. I'd only consider them if my Jeep was a regular in the mud pits.
