Question axles

im getting a 2000 (i think sahara) 4.0 5spd, and was wondering what a good option would be regarding axles, and what can i pull them from? as the biggest tires i plan on running are probably going to be 32's...

The axles that come with your Jeep will handle the 32's just fine.

For your entertainment, and education, go to this website, turn on your speakers, and listen to, "You picked a fine time to leave me, loose wheel."
http://www.billhughes.com/dana35c/

After you see this, you might want to save up for a replacement axle, like a D-44, or a Ford 9". Not everyone has this kind of bad luck, but once is enough.

If you are buying a Sahara anyways, find one that had the Dana 44 rear from the factory. With a 44 in the rear, and your 30 up front, you shouldn't have any issues with 32's, even if you go with lockers down the road. And if you do, you can fix what breaks with heavier stuff then! Good luck with your purchase!

If you insist on going with bigger axles right away, an 8.8 out of an Explorer will go in with minimal mods. Your 30 will be fine up to 33" tires in most situations, the guy that I compete with actually ran a Dana 30 front at the Supercrawl 4 years ago!!!! And he only broke one front outer...

yea theres some axle issues with the dana 35 and 30 but with 32's you should be fine so if thats the tire ur runnin then u should ignore the axle stories ya heard...at least until ya get bigger

I've been running 33's on a Dana 30/35 for a year.....however, I carried a spare set of axels this last trip out with my new "lower gearing". I have Dana 44's in sight, just hope I don't break before they are available

My advice: plan your build and spend your money wisely

Is your CJ not set up for driving on the road? I know you have about 9 vehicles, but I didn't know if you drove your CJ.

^^^^^

yes, the CJ is road worthy and I do drive it.... but I like power steering when I'm driving in the midst of the "east coast crazys." It's not an easy driver....gotta pay attention to what you're doing.

Usually I let Frank chauffeur.....my job is to look:
