Axles and gears, Help?

This might be a stupid question but I am by no means jeep savvy. I want to upgrade the gears to 4.56 gears for my rear Dana 35 axle so the 33's I hope to get wont slow me down too much. My question is, do I only replace the two rear gears or do i replace the front ones as well? Or do I leave the front ones 3.73? Also, should I replace the axles? If so, do I replace the front ones as well as the back? Thanks!!

If you have the 5spd the 3.73's are acceptable for 33's. If you do a gear change you have to change both front and rear. If you feel the need to upgrade an axle.. ditch the dana 35 as its the weaker of your axles.

The auto needs a little deeper than the 3:73's w/ 33's. I have put about 6K miles on mine as such and it is going in next Friday for 4:56's. The 3rd gear lock feature is nice, as it gets used often in strong head winds, or pulling anything, but, its gettin old.........I have noticed also that the converter gets locked up and I run about 3-400 rpm less "locked" out of overdrive. When it down shifts out of overdrive automatically, the converter "unlocks" and under enough load it won't lock back up until It gets back into overdrive. With gas @ $3 a gallon I can see it slippin nickels right out the tail pipe. Sorry, didn't mean to jump the track............

you gotta change rear and front...and if ur gonna swap axles... a 8.8 or 9 inch or dana 44 would be a gould idea...but if ur jus gonna ditch one...then do like 4jeepn said and ditch the rear axle cuz its the weaker one...you wouldn't have to replace the front too but it couldn't hurt
