Back in the club!

Years ago, I was the proud owner of a lifted black Wrangler YJ, hands down the best, most FUN vehicle I've ever owned. Regrettably sold it when my first son came along but there hasn't been a day that passed without me missing that Jeep...

Flash forward 19 years to today - family is all grown up or off to college, and I FINALLY have a Jeep back in my driveway!

Just bought this 1999 TJ with 17,741 actual miles!

Going to get it lifted, 32s or 33s, etc. down the road but that's another thread. In the meantime, was wondering if any seasoned TJ owners could advise what to check/watch out for - despite the mileage, parts are still 13 years old, etc. and was wondering what I could expect in terms of repairs. Anything in particular "usually" go on these with age? thanks!

Love the color, by the way

If you haven't already, change all the oils in the drive train, flush the cooling system, change the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Tires look good, but how old are they, and what shape are they in (sun checked)? I prefer synthetic oils. Also consider cleaning your fuel injectors. I give my vehicles a Seafoam treatment on a regular bases (let the debate begin!).

Welsome back!

Thanks for the welcome back and the replies/advice - I plan to take care of most if not all of those things.

I consider myself really fortunate to be the owner - I'd been looking for what seemed like forever, thought the mileage was a misprint. The Forest Green Pearlcoat (yes I love the color too) is like showroom new, no fading etc. whatsoever. Don't think it was always garaged though as the undercarriage does have some surface rust but nothing major - going to contact the previous owner over the weekend to find out more details. Maybe I'll treat/POR-15 it...

Also taking it to Elias 4WD Center for a bumper to bumper once over on Monday, they are a very reputable shop around here... will post what I find out if I need some advice, etc. - this board and members are just great!

I honestly couldn't be happier - when I first drove it with the top and doors off, I almost literally wept. It really is SO good to be back!
