After 32 years, we are back in the Jeep family. Nice to be back in the fold. Just bought an 06 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited as our 4th vehicle. It is bone stock. Obviously rarely driven off road. No scars whatsoever underneath, and it runs like a top. Needs a new carpet kit, as it had a smoker and dogs inside. Only one real owner, it has been in the hands of dealers for the last year. 75k miles, and its in good shape overall. I will start thinking about what i will do to it in the coming year, as we prepare to sell our pickup and trailer and start planning for a motorhome.
Picking it up tomorrow after a bath and detail. Will post pics by this weekend. Wish me luck with the new ride!

Thanks, Majnoon! Good to be back. I have a lot to learn, as my previous Jeep was a 75 CJ5 with 304V8. That was a much different platform. But it is funny how closely this TJ (technically LJ) resembles my sister in law's old CJ7 in handling and feel.
I love CJs. Neighbors CJ started my obsession. When I was like 5 lol. And it was already old. Maybe someday I can get one. Hope so. And a Hemi Cuda' dream Jeep and Car lol.
I have to admit that my first choice was a CJ7 I could rebuild. But now I also have to admit I am happy that my wife insisted that we get something with coil spring suspension and air conditioning. Her words: "I am not 20 years old any more", LOL!
Day-um!!
That's super nice! I love LJs and Rubis, and you have two in one! Congrats!
PS: My TJ had a pretty good shimmy when I first got it, but a simple tire rotation and balance has made it smooth as glass at any speed. Hopefully yours will be that simple as well.
Thanks, Lynn. This was $16k plus tax and license. And it originated at Golden Chrysler Jeep in Philly, which is coincidentally my hometown. The original owner kept it until 2013, and a dealer who bought it at auction after trade-in used it as a rental for a short time. The dealer I bought it from actually lost money on it. They paid too much at the auction.
It's a manual with black interior. The carpet is getting replaced immediately, and it really needs a good cleaning up... before I go get it dirty again. And as expected, there are a few things I will need to freshen up. Going to go through the front end and check all the ball joints and tie rod ends, wheel bearings, etc. She has a bit of the shakes on the freeway. It will need tires soon. Got some work to do to the house, then I will start plotting the real work on the LJ.
Could have some tire/wheel issues, but it looks like the track bar is a bit loose at both ends. I will not get to it yet, but soon. Front tires are pretty well shot. Was hoping to get the lift kit on before having to get tires, but doesn't look like i will get to do that in the order I would like. If thats the worst that happens, it will be ok....
