backspacing for 05 tj

I'm looking to buy aftermarket rims and the ones that I like are not compatible because of the backspacing. Going from 30" tires to 31" next year but for now I am buying the rims. What is the max backspace I need for the rim to fit?

For a 31x10.5 tire, 4.25-4.5" should be fine. If you'll ever go up to a 12.5" wide tire, get a wheel with 4.25" bs. It'll be a nice happy medium for both tire sizes.
