bad switch for OEM fog lights

My stock fog lights keep staying on and draining my battery, leaving me stranded. Anyone know where I can find that wire under the dash and put a switch and bypass it? my rig is a 2002 TJ and the fog light switch is on my turn signal lever you pull it out to turn them on. I looked in my Haynes manual but was not sure don't want to cut the wrong wire.

Can you just push on the turn signal to turn 'em off? I almost always have my headlights on when I run with my fog lights. They (the fog lights) shut down automatically when I turn off my lights. Yours don't? If not can you just push in on your turn signal to turn them off?

I wish it was that easy. the lighs go out when I push the switch in. the rub is that they turn on with the head lights off. If I don't find out they are on it runs my battary down.... needed a jump start again. might have to start parking on a hill to bump start it.

I have the same prob. Mine is that the switch is bad and it wont close the contact completley. If I push in on the end of the lever they go off, let off the switch, they come on. I just take out the fuse. I am trying to find this same mysterious wire that you are, so I can bypass it and make a new switch. If you find out, please let me know.

Your fog lights are controlled by a relay which is probably inside the power distribution center on the passenger-side fenderwell, inside the engine compartment. My TJ didn't come with fog lights so I can't say for sure that's where that relay is but I'd look there first. You can always just pull the relay until you can figure out the real source of the problem.

TJdan,
Just as Mr. Bransford pointed out, There is a relay box on the passanger side fenderwell under the hood. There is a 20a fuse on line 19 that I have removed and placed it in a empty slot till I find the "wire". Hope this helps out.
