Bad Zipper

The zipper on my rear window is a bit messed up(came to me that way). Some of the teeth on the window side and some on the top side don't mesh together properly and now I can't unzip the window out. So if I want to drop the top the rear window has to get stuffed behind the seat. Any suggestions. I would rather not have to replace an otherwise decent top just because of a slightly messe up zipper. :censored:

MY rear window zipper got messed up like that and the teeth were still there, but not meshed properly in the upper left corner of the window. The zipper opened on both sides of the slider and it was hopelessly stuck as I couldn't unzip it or zip it further.
In my case, I was able to pull the window out of the slider, by pulling the zipped portion of the window apart so the only place the window was attached to the top was right at the zipper slider and then pulling the window very hard until it came free of the slider. This deformed the slider a little bit by spreading it open slightly front to back. Then I straightened the teeth of the zipper out and I used a pair of pliers to gently squeeze the slider back into shape so it would engage both the top and window again. I lubed up the zipper teeth and now it works like new again and I lube the zipper regularly to keep it working smoothly.
Just passing this on, because I thought I was totally hosed and it really wasn't too hard to get it working right again. This may work for you if you haven't lost any teeth from the zipper. Good luck!

I've had to do this exact thing. It does work, just be careful not to break the teeth. Also bending the zipper slider itself so it catches the teeth better helped to prevent future zipper problems.

Had a similar problem. took forever to get the old slider off. had to snip a few teeth at the bottom and put a new slider on. Got the kit from ebay. Works ok now, but I can unzip it up both sides. Then I just roll it up and it falls with the top. No perfect, but it works. I use a crayon to lube the zippers, works well.

Well now back to the Zipper problem
from what I found out it was going to cost me about $ 250.oo
to put in a new zipper and it was hard to see out of the jeep,
plastic windows were a mess,
and even with the new radio and speakers I couldn't here the radio,
So my wife said buy a hard top and new doors,
were not leaving the money to the kid's, ( Spend It, )
So I Did,
And I can hear the radio at 60 MPH,
Oh and by the way Jerry Lea Loves the Hard top also
we can run with the back window up and open,

Well going to a hard top is 100% out of the question. My wife and I love going topless. We recently purchased a SmittyBilt cargo net that covers the back half of the OllllO to jeep the dog in. So I guess I'll just work on fixing this one.
