bada$$ cheap spare tire cover

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-C...spagenameZWDVW

15 bucks shipped. ill update and let you guys know how it fits on my 31s, and ill take some pics.

its an alice pack cover, and the item in the picture is the actual item. he said it fits that good, and looks just like a stock cover.

woodland or desert camo.

i got the desert. the dark green and black will go well with my black soft top

the purpose of a tire cover is to keep it out of the elements.. that bedsheet is not gonna do it.. if you want it for looks go for it..

Yeah, I don't see that lasting too long.

Well, it all depends. If it's made of nylon ripstop or canvas, it should last a good long time. Don't forget fellas that the original Willy's Jeep tops were made of canvas. And I still have my original ripstop stuff from basic training. Today's synthetic fabrics hold up very well!

yeah i think its so easy to dismiss anything that isnt for ''intended purpose'' as junk, but sometimes you have to have more of an open mind when you see something and dont understand what it is.

this is not a spare tire cover.

this is a GI ISSUE ALICE PACK COVER, that is being sold as a spare tire cover, because it will fit over a tire.

designed to keep the elemts off your alice pack, ruck sack, or any other gear you have in the field

designed to be tear resistant

currently own one for my ruck sack, as well as a wet weather pancho, and wet weather top and bottom made from the same material, all of which have been to iraq twice, and to the field around 15 times, and seen far more abuse than a spare tire cover on my daily driver ever will, and i have no rips or tears in them, and i stay dry.

so you guys can assume it will not keep out the elements, and just rip, and ill assume it will stay in just as great of shape as all my gi issue waterproof equipment i got issued when i got to fort drum, which was used by many before me, which was made years and years ago, and put through much more use than a spare tire cover will ever see, and still has no rips, and is still waterproof.

ill post an update when it rips, or fails to keep out the elements so you can say you told me so.

Sorry didn't mean to crap on the thing. The seller does not say what the material is and in the picture it does look like bed sheet material. But hey, at $15 its worth a shot.

It's a medium cotton duck canvas.
I used one on my yellow Wrangler. It fit fine, it held up fine but it isn't water proof.
I got mine at a gun show for $1.00. Guy had a huge box full, i keep kicking myself for only buying one.

How large a tire will they fit? By the photo, I would guess 33s would be pushing it and would not fit 35s.

my alice pack material is the same as my pancho and wet weather material. so it should be waterproof. the whole purpose of an alice pack cover is to keep stuff dry, and fold up and store smaller than the gi issue waterproof bag, and conform to larger shapes. it also has an elastic lining, instead of the drawstring on the wet weather bag. the wet weather bag is thicker material, but no way could you fit a alice pack or even assault pack in it.

so yeah, if they guys descripton of what it is, is correct, it should be waterproof.

guess ill know when it gets here.

also i must note, the one i bought was from a different auction, and was a ''buy it now'' deal, but this one is the same item, just different seller.

didnt mean to sound like i was offended or anything, i just didnt realize the auction i posted didnt clearly state it was an alice pack cover..

bo biggie bro.

just was saying what i know, because i own a gi issue alice pack cover that i actlually signed for here at fort drum, and its waterproof.

i figure if this one i ordered isnt waterproof, ill just swap em out and give the army the new one lol

I got mine for $0......but I had to give 8 years of service for it. It's not waterproof, it's cotton. Mine, that is. It still looks good through 2 deployments, but is too easily stolen, so it lives in a garage while my spare lives on my Jeep. There are alot of military wanna-be's that will steal anything that looks military, so they can LOOK like they're the real thing.

Actually, here in Cali, being waterproof would not be that big of a deal. It's the sun that destroys tires here. Rainy days are few and far between.
