Banks or Edelbrock

I'm researching into buying a new header to replace my TJ's('99) cracked one. Anybody have any opinions on Borla, Banks or Edelbrok? I've heard some of the aftermarket crack.

from what ive heard, unless it does not have the flex points, its not worth it. the solid headers are prone to cracking. hopefully one of the other guys will chime in soon. im curios to find out, besides e-bay, where to get one.

I dunno about Edelbrok but I definitely (!!!) would not go for either a Borla or Banks. Both of those have a reputation for cracking just as readily as the original design OE header does.

I would just look for a replacement header that has a pair of the flexible steel bellows added to the two sections that normally crack, they are everywhere including eBay. Even the factory's updated header is fine, it has had those bellows since late '99 or so which resolves the cracking problem. It's amazing that neither Banks nor Borla have added those bellows to stop theirs from cracking like the original OE header did.

By the way, my dealer replaced my '97's OE headers twice due to cracking. It was not until the 3rd time when the upgraded version with the flexible steel bellows added was installed when I had no more problems. I've been running on that version for over ten years and 150,000 miles without any more cracking problems.

Mucho Gracious

Thanks so much for the input. I've learned so much about the problems I'm having with my TJ from you fellow Jeepers.
