Beach driving at OBX

I have become a true believer in airing down the tires when driving on the deep soft sand on the beaches on the Outer Banks. When I finally took them down to about 15 psi's, the tires flattened out so much that I began almost floating on top of the sand rather than trying to force through the deep sand.
I was on North Core Banks just below Ocracoke.

Love obx. I air down to 20 with no problems. Last time I was there these people tried to take a minivan on the beach...

I think a lot of people think the sand is hard pack like most beaches and find out the hard way that it's deep and soft.

Different tires work best at different aired down pressures.

10psi is what works for me with my 31x10.5 Fun Country 2s on Island Beach St Pk.
