Belt Loop Monster!

I am a fairly new Wrangler owner, and a pretty big fella (6'3" 270lbs) and was wondering how many people on here have tore off half of their belt loops on their pants from the damn striker! I have ruined about 4 pairs of pants from them catching on the striker in the door frame. I have finally got the entering procedure down, but want to know that I am not alone in this venture.

Some of my belt loops have fallen victim to the strikers. I find that the cj and yj are the worst offenders for me.

I guess mine never got caught because I never wear a shirt tucked in but that thing has left several large gooseberries on my fat arse over the years. Man, when you hit it just right, it WILL drop you like a bad habit.

6', 210lbs here. My TJ has eaten 4 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of shorts. Funny part is those were all before I put my lift on. I recently added a YJ with a 6" lift to my fleet of rural assault vehicles but have not gotten bit by her yet!!!!!

It's a Jeep thing...

I'm a big guy also but I have not had this happen in 3 years of ownership. Of course it will happen in short order now.

Man, I thought is was just me. 6'8" 300lbs so my seat is all the way back. I don't own a pair of pants that has not been surgically altered by that damn thing. No matter how careful I am getting in and no matter how many times I remember, ultimately i will forget until the sound of ripping cloth reminds me. Unfortunately most of the times my loop does not just pop, but is strong enough to cause the damage to happen to my shorts/jeans.

That striker is the bane of my existance. Another issue I have with it is that when I close my door my effing seat belt is on the door side of the striker and thump, my door doesn't close and I have to turn around, move the seatbelt, and close the door again. This minor inconvenience becomes annoying and just like ripping belt loops, no matter how careful I am and no matter how many times I remember, I ultimately forget at the worst possible time: When my hands are full of groceries, when it is pouring down rain........

Dang 2006LJRubicon, you're a great big feller!
I just love big fellers!

I have that seat belt thing happen to me too. I'm always afraid that I've damaged it and it aggravates the heck out of me. You can hear that dead thud, and you know what's happened. Makes me want to grab it and do one of those wild ripping it out by the roots things. Teeth clenched, muttering and grumbling unintelligible, arms flailing wildly and feet stomping until you kill it or it submits. Ok, I guess that would be called a temper tantrum.

On OBM's truck, there is a little wheel/dial/knob thingamajig that is on the outside of the lower part of the seat. It adjust SOMEthing, lord only knows what. Every stinking time I am wearing shorts and I slide out of the truck, it grabs me by the pant leg and leaves me dangling there.

If you want a really good laugh, you should see this fat girl trying to 'wrastle' herself loose from the clutches of a nasty F-250 when it's got her by the hind leg! Let me tell you, it's a sight to behold!!

I'm not that big - but it's maddening.

4 foot 23 inches, 180 lbs.

I jumped out of my Jeep (5.5"+ lift) one day, my belt loop caught but it didn't break. I hung there suspended, feet not touching the ground not really able to grab anything. I know it looked silly.

The club I was with stood around laughing at me.

Ever since then they kid me about being "well hung." Sometimes I have to explain what they mean.

The cure - don't wear pants! (That would stop my nickname too.)

Lost a pair of khakis a few weeks before I added a BL, so it was stock height.

I'm 6ft1, and I have done this to about 5 pairs of pants. I don't even have a lift on the jeep. definitely not alone.

I don't see how it rips your loops off. Idk if mine are different than ya'lls but mine are loops. Are yours hooks or something? Because one day I was trying to figure out how people get hooked on there and the door catches are quite a bit bigger than my belt loops especially if I have a belt on. Also is far enough toward the rear of the vehicle I had to lean halfway out to even get them to touch. Can someone enlighten me?
