Exactly. Some guys obviously can stuff wide tires inside stock flares so I'm that sense tubes can offer clearance. But it's not what I'd call " real gains " in clearance.

Depending on the price, I would be interested in a "group" buy. Biggest thing is how much clearance will I gain to the rear over stock? Didn't look like their regular fenders offered much rearward clearance, that's why I ask.

If they did a highline, wouldn't we need a new inner fender?
I'm still paying off my Jeep so I have to keep any projects as cheap as possible until it's paid off. This would fix my hood issues so I think I can use that as an excuse to get them...

I'm still paying off my Jeep so I have to keep any projects as cheap as possible until it's paid off. This would fix my hood issues so I think I can use that as an excuse to get them...
You can move the inner up with some modifications or make your own if your handy. We can ask for more rearward clearance if they are building a new model for a hiline.

I have some friends who might be in too.

What I had it mind is the 3" fender look of the PS's (I like the way the bottom of the flare is made compare to CC's where it's rounded at the bottom of the flare).
Here,s a picture so you can see what I'm talking about:

See how the end of the flat tapers to the body compared to how CC's regular fenders curve in. The tapered look has a more aggressive look.
Also, a vent cut out at the rear would be nice. Rearward clearance is a must though.

If you get something together with a couple of friends, I may sit out and once I have more spare cash and less to pay off, I'll order some (unless they are super cheap in the group buy, then let me know).

I won't need em for a month or so. Finishing my axle swap etc. But I will let you know if I look into it. The lead time for them to make something if they even take it on would probably be at least a month.


I agree, I love the look of the defenders, but seriously that pays for my axle swap (minus the drive train portion I added to get those. I can build tube fenders for less than 100. It's just the time, and they probably will never look as good as the defenders, especially not the first set I make.

Yes, I like that a lot. Looks good. Only a few other companies do that, and it really makes a difference in the aggressive look.

That's a pretty good price but the one's we're looking at are going to be in the $200 range (still have to work out specifics with the company about a high line kit) so that's pretty cheap. I like the look of the Rokmen a lot and if I had the money, I would probably get a set. Thing I don't like is that there isn't a flare (I believe that can be added however).

Agreed; they're my favorite, and if I ever get a set it will probably be those.

There is an option for a flare; I believe up to a 4" flare but I don't remember the specific options/versions they had. Rokmen removes things from the site and adds them again as products are in and out of stock which is why they aren't listed right now. Once they get settled from their move I'd guess they will have the fenders back in stock and on their website again soon.

All depends on what your time is worth. I make things out of steel for a living and can tell you that I could easily have the price of a Rokmen spent and still have work to do before I had the pile of parts that they ship you...unless I just wanted to kind of hack stuff on.

It's about details....if I can spend less time doing the rough work then I will have more time to do finish work. I plan to tig weld my fenders and maybe put cup holders in em and try to keep it looking like it came off the factory floor.

I know what you mean about details, but I can cut the plate pieces and grind them down in probably 4-5 hours and be precise, and do the bending work in a few hours, notch and weld up. Probably end up w/ 20 hours in on a finished product, but that is about 150 dollars of my time plus 100 in materials, and they are custom.

I'm a college student, I make minumum at 4 of my jobs (1 summer, 3 at school) and 10 at another (summer, low hours).

So a 500 dollar set of fenders that I still have to weld equals about 50-70 hours of work. I have lot of spare time, not a lot of spare cash. Also dropping 1K on an axle swap, custom cross member, custom skid, lots of other little things along with it. I enjoy making stuff right?

I wasn't saying it's too much for everyone. Just in my case, I can't justify that money. When I'm out of school and making that much money in a day or two, I can justify spending it

In the mean time, DOM is 2-4 bucks a foot and plate is pretty cheap too. Have friends with benders, notcher, I have a welder, buddys have migs tigs etc. We like to hangout and make stuff. I can fab up a set of fenders like these and match them perfect to the stretch I plan on running in the front, and best of all I can say I built them!

Sounds like you're talking yourself out of the CC Highlines?
I've seen that YJ on another forum and really like how they didn't comp cut the rear and just enlarged the wheel well.

I mean still basically a CC, but yeah at least he has a fender lol.

250 is much more reasonable and is about equal to the time- minus money I would spend doing my own. It's actually a better deal to me.

I'm currently notching 3/16 sq tube by hand since my buddy was out of town for work when I was able to go to his place. Gona take me about 2.5 hours to do 2 notches perfect. Vs. 15 minutes with his notches. Problem is he lives 30 mins away, and gas makes it more worth my while to just do it myself unless I am already in the neighborhood.

Basically my whole life right now is fabbing every little piece myself. If I can buy these fenders for 250-300 in a highline kit, ready to weld, I will.

How about these? Totally saved uncut front fenders!! Made a pattern from the front flare and cut out some 3/16" plate to bolt up in the same holes. Cleaned them up, sprayed some rattlecan bed liner and , boom, custom front fender armor. Matched up nice with the Smittybilt rear armor.

Just to give some more feedback. I did some research of own, since I accidentally busted my plastic bushwhacker front flares (PO got em not me). I went wheelin and then afterwards headed to an automated car wash. Ripped them up good. It was dark and I was very angry so I didn't take a picture of the carnage but here is a picture of the aftermath. >:/

Now for me it's PSC or metalcloack
PSC
-looks best in the front view, snugg fit onto the grill
-a bit cheaper
-more authentic jeep look

MC
-cost a little more
-completely bolt on, no cutting up the fender like PSC
-flare is removable
-more clearance
-includes inner fender wells

Now I was gonna do a completely custom job with my dad since he's a welder and he even fabricated my front bumper and winch plate, but I want something that looks good, and works even better, without the hassle of figuring out how to mount, where to cut, and how to make it look snugg. My last flares got destroyed and I want the new ones to last.

This is why I lean to the PSC it just looks better.
I don't know, I'm torn.
MC do have better clearance.

-sorry if I hijacked I know you guys are looking for cheaper rout, I too am low on funds after dumping 3000$ on lift, tires, winch, earlier this year.

Ps none of these require welding and would only take a few hours to install

If you're current fenders are in good shape, you can sell them online or locally which will help offset the cost of the MC's. For the Fender that's that expensive, the PS's should come with a new inner fender and not require you to cut up your existing one. That's just me though.

Between the two, I vote MC.

The MC is by far superior, but I don't know how I feel about the tube, the front not being snugg to the grill, and the extra 100-200$.

Also my left fender has a rip, and rust, so reselling will be impossible.

This is as thought as choosing a winch. :/

The Jeep gods need to give us a break!

I would go with the XC defenders (high line) without even considering the MC.

If reselling them is going to be impossible, I would get ready to start hacking on your current ones so you can install something else or prepare to pay for a full fender replacement (Rokmen, MC, GenRight, etc). If you want to save a little bit of money, buy the Rokmen DIY kit. Everything is there, ready to go. Just weld together and smooth out the welds/do some touch-up and you're set.
