Best paint to paint your frame with??

Soo my frame is getting some surface rust on it, nothing bad at all. I just like it when the frame looks nice and black, what do you guys use that works good and lasts?

I use rust cutter on the rust and paint the frame with equipment enamel..you can spend a lot more money on other methods but this works great for me in south Georgia and is inexpensive

I used por 15 about a year ago. Through a Michigan winter, with tons of salt, and being covered in mud for some of the time; it still looks great besides a few parts where it wasn't prepped properly. I plan on touching up those spots sometimes soon, and I'm sure it will last much much longer. I can't speak for how effective it is in the long term, but it is very strong. The only con in my opinion is the price, but I still highly recommend it. Just make sure you get the whole prep kit and do it properly

I'll be picking up some Chasis Saver when I buy the Monstaliner to line my tub. Kill two birds with one stone.

My TJ's frame looks ok but I still went over it with a wire wheel and gave it two good coats of POR-15's Chassis Coat (aerosol)....and coated the inside with Eastwood's Internal Frame Coating (aerosol).

I have question: were TJ frames coated with anything on the outside right from the factory?

I got it from a local paint shop. Look up the prep kit, it has everything you need. It should include marine clean, metal ready, and por 15. Also you want to go over it with a wire brush and knock any loose stuff off or it won't stick for long.

POR-15 products are also sold on Amazon.

the Eastwood Internal coating comes with a neat spray nozzle attached to a long flexible tube that can be snaked inside the frame, sprays a nice broad pattern inside, works great.

I got my POR 15 from Quadratec. Also the Chassis Coat paint. They also sell Marine Clean to thoroughly clean your frame first then Metal Prep to prepare the metal surface for painting. I did my frame 3 years ago and after 1000's of miles on the sandy trail of Michigan it still looks great.

Ok, so for all of you that have used POR 15 I have some questions. Did you just put the POR on the frame without masking anything off (like bolts and cables and such)? And is it as simple as it sounds to just paint it on, after the prep of course.

And how much of the POR, Metal ready and Prep stuff did you use? I'm planning on coating the frame and some rust spots inside the tub.

I went all out with it and what I did and guarantee will last a long time is take an angle grinder grind down to bare metal then prime it and then put a couple coats of BONDO rubberized undercoating that stuff is basically bed liner its that hard or you could use bed liner and then I took some gloss paint and sprayed that on so water and dirt and mud falls off and runs off better il post pictures of it in a little bit but it is amazing

por 15 is the way to go, but for a quicky duplicolor rust fix works pretty good too (we use it at the bodyshop)and then undercoat over it
