I really like the looks of the Garvin rack but my concern is that the Jeep is my DD and I don't really need/want the rack and jerry cans with me at all times.
So, the system is pretty flexible. You do have to but the rack and each side can holder separately which is kinda lame but I get it. It also has axe and shovel mounts you can get that mount the across the inside of the spare. I totally get the high can comment. They are just above tub height on mine. The rack could be take on or off in about 10 min. I would say.
The other thing that drew me to the Garvin system was the hitch is a rated class II or III hitch. Can't remember off hand. Either way I've landed that thing hard on some rock and it's barely scratched. It also comes with a number of brackets and plates to help distribute load on your current xmember on the frame and mounts that go right to the frame.

A drunken driver nudged me from behind at a stoplight before driving off. There was no damage to the hitch portion of my bumper, but I imagine the front of his Camero had a nice dimple added to it!

It looks similar to the JCR. My goal is to add a drop down tail gate and get rid of my trailer hitch. So I need a swing out spare and a intergraded hitch that I can use to tow my light trailer with. It would be cool if the swing out carrier would lock in the open position too.
