Black diamond is a little bit thicker material(quieter) and a little darker black

Bobster,

Black denim is the material that came on Jeeps form the factory until 2002. Then they started to use the black diamond material. Black denim is a little bit thinner fabric than the diamond.

Black diamond is a little bit thicker fabric and is more of a rich black color compared to the denim. If you look at them both close up, the diamond actually looks like it has little diamonds sewn into the fabric where as the denim looks similar to the way a pair of jeans is sewn.

Hope this helps! If you have any questions please let me know.

The above is true for the original factory top. Note 01-02 there was a mix of tops. Some were 4ply (even thicker) sailcloth

If the OP is looking at Bestop Replace A Tops,

Standard Replace A Top with is a thinner material like what was offered 97-02. You can get that in denim or diamond. Denim is listed for 97-02 and diamond is listed 03-06

Sailcloth Replace A Top is heavier than the standard and generally what is recommended. You can get sailcloth in denim or diamond. Denim is listed for 97-02 and diamond is listed 03-06

97-07 and 03-06 will fit any year frame so get which ever you want.
