Bestop 2 piece hardtop?

Does anyone have any experience with this on a TJ?

My soft top is shot, and my jeep is my second car, in the summer it remains topless from April-early November. In the winter I'll throw the top on and use it occasionally.

I've been looking for a good used one piece top here in Indianapolis as well as full doors, but have not hit the jackpot yet (maybe spring?).

But, for some reason I keep coming back to the 2 piece hardtop to be able to enjoy those March and April when I can be more flexible. A lot of reviews online complain about leaks and it not fitting/warping.

Does anyone have any experience here? Bestop rep, throw your two cents in about the previous complaints

If I do buy a one piece used, is there any concerns I should have besides the usual cracking and wear and tear?

I have one. I love it! No leaks or warping. Only issue is that I have to slam my full doors to get them to close all the way. But once closed they are closed tight. They look much thicker and durable than the oem tops. Any questions feel free to ask.

Sorry but this is a pic from last year.

thanks for the reply!

A few questions...

did you buy yours new? Did you shop around or were they all more or less the same as I'm finding?

Is it any noisier than a one piece (if you have had a chance to find out)

Easy to get the Targa top on and off?

Is the rack worthwhile and easy to use?

Used for a dam good price.....was well worth the 3 hr drive. I know 4wd had then heavily discounted a few weeks ago so I would take a look there.

Much quieter and even a bit warmer. The inside of them is insulated and fabric lined. Cuts the noise and cold quite a bit more than oem.

Easy to get the Targa top on and off?

Its pretty simple to get off but and on but due to the bulkiness of it its a good idea to have someone help. Done it plenty of times myself but kinda awkward.

I strongly suggest it. Its a great safe place to put the top rather than tossing it in the back plus its still a functional rack.
Hope that helps

Not ignoring this post, I'm just hoping you'll get a few more reviews from others. I think you'll trust their opinions more than mine.

I do not have any personal experience with it. Do a search here and on the larger jeepforum. I have seen a number of posts indicating getting it to seal when putting the pieces together can be tricky.

Can I now ask for your input on any of the claims of leaks from some people on the web?

I usually assume such things are just the case of a few random people who complain the loudest.

Is it easy to get the top to seal up well and not leak?

Jeff Bezos, the head guy at Amazon, is always telling people this: Online comments come only from people who are really upset, or really happy. No one ever posts a "works ok" comment.

A two piece top is more complicated, and it just has more opportunities for problems. There are gaskets and seals and joints. There are places for water to get trapped.

But having said that, I would also point out that this top meets our expectations in every single way. It provides a neat option that most people really like, it's got a style that sells. And the quality is good. We get complaints on every product we sell, and we take them seriously, but there's nothing out-of-whack with the number of complaints on this one.

hardtop

This post may be old but i have the bestop 2 piece. ITS AWESOME! hot and dry, and you can take the top off easily. only thing i dont like is the heater back window has fragile connectors, and when the you put it on the racks, if done alone, it can get scratched easy

Get one used and paint it!
