Bestop Cleaner Question

I purchased the Bestop cleaner to clean my OE soft top. On the back label it says "to avoid contact with vinyl windows".

Does anyone have a trick to clean the top using this cleaner while avoiding contact with the windows?

If I clean small sections and spray off with water immediately does that work? Or does it mean no contact at all?

Thanks.

Pull the side curtains off and wipe em down with a little ammonia free glass cleaner. Wash the rest of the top with the cleaner.

I tried my hardest to keep the protectant off of the windows back when I used it. The first rain came around and washed all of the protectant right off onto the windows leaving huge streaks. They wouldn't come off for at least 3 weeks. I stopped using the cleaner and protectant and just use the window cleaner every month.

I just got my new Bestop Sailcloth replace-a-top today via UPS. I was thinking of treating it with Scotchguard right after I install it. Any thoughts on that?
