Bestop highrock tire carrier

Hey, it's me again and i am just laboring over the need of a fortified Spare Tire carrier for my Wrangler, so I figured I would ask "The Brain Center."

I have looked over and over for quite some time and now I think I may be close.

Here is my dilemma:
I have a hidden hitch installed and do not want to replace the Factory bumper (forgive me; i love the stock bumpers) and just about every overpriced (did i mention waaay overpriced?) rear bumper tire swing away has a 2" receiver already installed.

So, I hooked up with my friends at Bestop and I am now interested in their High Rock oversized tire carrier. This seems to be my best bet because I can retain the factory look, hidden hitch, and she can finally see some dirt before we Northwesterners bid adieu to our Summer... She will see mud and snow shortly thereafter.

Does anyone have any experience with this install of this Carrier? I am not a mechanic by any stretch and it looks like I will have to drill some holes..

I only have a 33" spare, but I think it is just too much for the factory mount to handle while off-roading.

Many thanks!

I took my tj off road a bit, though no real rocks...and I had the 33 on stock carrier spaced with 2x4s...for the last 8-9 months I have had my 35 on the same carrier...the tire sits on an insert to alleviate some of the weight and decrease the chances of it pulling the door down. There is some deflection to the door when I open it, but nothing big. I wheel without rear seat and would probably put the 35 there next time out...we recently got quads so all can drive and the jeep sees less trails because of it.

I'm not sure that's the name of it, but mine's a Bestop carrier.

I DO use it off road a bunch - with a 35 x 12.50 on it. It's held up fine. I love the convenience of it - you just open the tailgate like normal, no fiddling around with clamps or screws.

Weld a tab on the corner to mount your CB antenna.
