Bestop replace a top help

I I haven't posted in awhile....life got in the way. I'm finally ready to order a new soft top for my 2000 TJ. I have looked over and over the options, and I'm going with the Bestop Replace a Top. What I can't figure out is if I want "black diamond" or "black denim"? I'm looking for closest to original. Is there a marked difference in looks and/or wearability? Is one quieter or thicker than the other? The diamond runs about $50 more than the denim.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Yes there is a difference but not sure I can remember which is which anymore...the only way I found out was a had a Halftop that was one and uppers that is the other.....if you look and see what is available for the "newer TJs" I think it changed after '02 you can find out which one is heavier. I have an '04 and my uppers didn't match the halftop.

Side note...IDK if there is a difference in the frame may need to get for year specific your vehicle....i.e. if you have 2000 is the frame work for ST the same as for 2004 which is a heavier different top material.

I do know that all the tops will switch between TJs but IDK if you can switch parts of tops between TJs....hope that makes sense?

The "Newer" Tjs did have heavier material.

I've got a 97 and believe it was the black denim. Ordered mine about 3 yrs ago and it was a dead match for the original.

I am ordering for year specific, the site requires me to do so.

Looks like I'll be going with black denim.

Thanks for the input guys!!

Hope you see this before you order, but here it is. I ordered the black denim for my spare tire cover and it wasn't as black in color as my soft top. It seemed like it was more ash black, than jet black, as my top.

Needing a new top for my 97 TJ noticed several different materials Sail, Diamond and Denim.
Is the Denim a cloth top?

97-02 was std. weight denim. (Black is a lighter shade)

01-02 Jeep started mixing in 4 ply sailcloth diamond (heavier than the standard weight)

03-06 was 3 ply diamond (Diamond appears darker than denim)

You have to look close to see the pattern difference

Replace A Tops come in std and sailcloth. Any denim or diamond will fit all years. Sailcloth is the best option. Unless you have soft doors or tire covers you have to match, get whatever year/pattern you want.

I just put trektop nx on my 02, went from a hard top. It was explained to me the black diamond is pretty much the material used on new jk's which is better than the denim. I don't know if that is accurate or not, but am happy with my black diamond. Hope that makes sense and helps you out.

I saw before ordering! Thanks for the info. The heavier sailcloth is what I want so I guess it's black diamond. Thanks so much for the info.
