Bestop soft top problems? First time installing question

alright, so i removed the hard top this weekend and put on the soft top but im have some problems that are really pissin me off.

first pic is of the soft top

second is of the opening in seal between the door and soft top when the door is shut completly

and the third on is where i believe the problem is to be. where this rod meets the windsheild frame, ther is no place to put it. I just got this jeep a few months ago and the soft top was in the back. i feel like im missing a peice. am i right?

The ball is supposed to snap into the outside of the plastic frame that you ar on the inside of.
Looks like a supertop....
It looks cracked in the picture. Mine cracked when i got a little to close to a tree.

The metal bar that slides down into the bracket right behind your door opening that curves to the front of the Jeep, acts as the surround. The top Vlcros around it

Im a little confussed? i have what your talking about i believe. if u look at picture three. i think the problem might be the top door surround (the top rod above the door) its there, it just has no place to sit or snap into too.

Exactly. It is supposed to snap into the outside if that square plastic piece at the top. Should be a metal spring clip inside the hole. If clip is gone, you need new windshield brackets.

You have the older type bow assembly. You have to remove the oem side channel on both sides and use Bestop's windshield side channel. That's where the rod pops into.

No, it was in my spare parts box from my old bow assembly. The driver side was damaged so I ended up getting the updated bow assembly as well as the new design brackets, this requires the oem window trim to be installed instead of the Bestop trim.

I had the same one but the bow assembly connections where it went in to the windshield brackets were different. I ended up tearing the top going thru a garage door. I never was satisfied with that so I shelled out $900 for the original hardware and new soft top with tinted windows. IMO the original fits better and easier to take off and put on.

I've got a new top coming also, whenever it's off of backorder, hopefully by April. I sold my supertop yesterday with the newer bow assembly and hardware. I'm sporting the hardtop right now until my new top comes in. Can't wait!!

Here's a pic of where the newer bow assy attaches to the bracket on the windshield.

Glad you got it figured out. Indeed, Bestop's customer service is top notch!! Geoff, if you're reading this, how about a status on the Supertop NX. It's going to be in the mid 70's this coming week and really anxious to receive my new top.
