I understand exactly what you are saying, they are a little difficult to install, more difficult if you have a hard top. If you have a soft top, remove your windows. Try some channel locks, use some electrical tape or duct tape on the channels so you won't mar the brackets and protect your glass window from tool slipage. Also, add some type of locking hardware to the threaded knobs, they will loosen. The padding on the roll bars are thick and don't compress really easy. Good luck. Laters,
Aslo, notice that I installed the brackets with the knob screw facig outward, easier to remove with a softop, maybe you need to rotate 180 deg to install from the inside.
