Bestop Window

Came out of Olive Garden this eve to find my passanger door window slashed (8" or so) and my CHEEP sterio gone. Anyone know of a way to repair the cut other than replacing it or clear duct tape? My 2000 TJ has half doors and Bestop brand soft top.

BTW......the doors were UNLOCKED!!!

Sorry, can't offer any advice...but don't you love the "smart" thieves that pull that crap? My friend had something similar happen with him...thieves broke into his car and then used a screwdriver to pry open his glovebox, which wasn't even locked in the first place.

Good luck getting that fixed though!

That sucks.
There's no way to really "fix" a window that I know of.
"Unstitching" the vinyl and sewing in new isn't an easy thing - they're heat sealed, so it's not really going to work right, so I don't think a boat canvas guy can help.

We do sell replacement window panels - basically the whole zip in piece, for our tops. Not certain what we can do for an upper door. Call customer service, or remind me tomrrow when I'm at work and I'll check.

I called customer service, only option they had was to replace it. Only 1 year old and a new one wouldnt match the fade and sure as I did replace it I would get hit again so..............small strip of clear duct tape for now and save up for some new sounds.
Thanks for your help guys.

This same thing happened to me. Thief cut into rear drivers side window, doors were locked but there is the zipper staring him in the face. Tried to take my head unit but when I installed it I placed it behind the consol. All he took was the faceplate and a lighter. Jerk! By the way I had just purchased the new top a few months prior and sold the old one... Can I buy just one side window?

Same answer as above - call customer support and they can get you a price. We don't ever sell just the "window" - we sell the whole panel (the part that zips out that includes the window).

Not cheap.

Can't blame Harley for deciding to "redneck repair" it. I'd do the same thing.

I actually went with the black duct tape (tinted windows). I've been searching for a solution as well. I am tossing the idea of "punching holes" on each side of the tear and using some sort of "rope/string" and lace it up. Not sure how it will work but tossing around the idea.

Considering the thread is a year and a half old, I don't know of many insurance companies that would honor that claim.
