BFG A/T Tire Repair?

Hi Folks,

Do you know if its possible (and safe) to have a 32X11.50X15 BFG Radial All-Terrain T/A tire repaired if the sidewall was punctured by a nail. I've heard that you can't repair a sidewall puncture but I would think a small hole (versus a tear) should be repairable with an internal patch, right?

PS Anyone got a used one for sale?

A sidewall repair wont last. Put a tube in it.

My boyfriend used to work in a tire shop. Any sidewall puncture isn't safe to repair. Most places won't repair them for that reason. You are better off just getting a new tire

may be too late to help...

hey man,
i had a side wall puncture on a A/T about a year ago and it was, believe it or not, a bone from road kill that got mine. i was just amazed... anyway, i went to the auto parts store and bought a plug kit and stuffed two plugs in the hole with a lot of epoxy and knock on wood its still holding with no leaks. not the safest but far cheaper, hope it helps....

Ditto. Buy a new tire. If not for your own safety then for the rest of us suffering the Safety Gestapo pervading society. When that puppy blows out at 60mph and you flip tail over teakettle you simply reinforce the tea-drinking Nader-ites misconceptions about our beloved lifestyle of lifts, big tires, no doors, solid axles, etc.
And if you hit the trail with me with a plugged sidewall you'd meet one of the few criteria for leaving you alone in the middle of nowhere when it failed. And it will.

New Wheels and Tires to arrive soon (anyone want my old ones cheap)

Thanks for the advice on this one. Rather than mess around with the sidewall puncture I've purchased a new set of wheels and tires for my son's TJ. That leaves me with 3 15x8 black steelies and 3 32x11.50 BFG ATs. Anyone in the NJ area want to pick them up real cheap (pick up only)??? You'd just need a 4th to have a full set (more than 50% tread left).
