..... I was just thinking it would be great if the judge he gets owns a Jeep lol.
Actually the judges son owns a jeep! Judge was a real cool and understanding guy.

BUT....... i lost!!! $111 down the drain. However the judge agreed 100% with me. The only reason i lost is the very first sentence of the vehicle code. If it came equipted with doors it had to have them on. He said just because Chrysler made them to be removed that doesnt trump state law.

I was prepaired with pics, inspection laws and my owners manuel.

He did however recommend that i appeal it to a higher court but warned it would be pricey. He also said petitioning for a clearer understanding and the right to ride doorless would be a good idea. Bikers have.

I dont plan on appealing. Saving the $ for a set of tube doors in which this trooper said would be legal. (but thats not how the law reads it) so who knows.

SORRY GUYS

I'm a Deputy Sheriff in Pa and none of my fellow law enforcement colleagues stop Jeeps with doors off. I personally wouldn't stop any fellow Jeepers for it since I can't wait to get my doors off. It's what Jeeping is all about!! I know some Cops can be hard asses and they make the rest of us look bad.

Now THAT is the only way PA can ever be fixed! Not that PA is the only state where this is an issue, but it's certainly one of the worst when it comes to officers with attitude muscles. If only the majority - the ones who truly want to serve the citizens they risk their lives to serve - would stand up and get rid of the a$$holes like this guy, PA and other places would be better...well, places!

Happily OUT of PA!!!

The doors and roof are not ment for safety but only protection from weather elements. The Judge shouldn't have never sided with the Police officer in this case. Just for the pure cause of it, if you have time. Get what ever club or group you roll with and go after the law, judgee, and trooper for this. It is clear also that this Police officer has it in for you or Jeep/Jeep Wranglers in general

I know there is money involved but with enough people the cost to jump down these peoples throats should be reasonable

Or he could just do what the judge suggested. The officer was doing his job, enforcing traffic law, and the judge determined that he was in violation of the law as the officer had cited him for. If he let greenhead go and cited the next guy it could have been seen as selective prosecution, if you have worked in our field you would understand what I mean. Almost every time I cut someone slack it would come back to bite me in the butt. That person would think I only cut them slack because my case was weak, I would then have to spend a month proving that I had ARS and explain why I helped them out instead of citing/arresting them but not the next guy.
Would I have stopped him for his doors being off? No, it’s a minor violation and I do not like citing the average honest person for minor infractions.
Your anger is directed at the wrong persons, the Judge and "police". What he could do is write his legislators asking them to clarify the law or review it.

Wow...that sucks. I fought a ticket in court a few years ago and lost when the judge ruled with the cop's word and not mine. I probably could have won if I took it higher, but it just wasn't worth my time/money to do so.

XJ Knight I take offense to you saying "Pig" when referring to the Cop. I am in Law Enforcement and yes there are some hard ass cops out there who go by the book but there are a lot like myself who aren't like that. I enjoy driving my Jeep with top and doors off and I wouldn't stop someone for it. I just don't like when you say Pig.
I completely agree. Shouldn't be speaking like that.

it says in there that that doors must be required unless the vehicle has been manufactured or modified without a roof... easy fix, run without a top and doors. :)
Judge questioned the trooper with the sane thing but then re read it. It states must open n close securley unless no top or sides. But still had to hav doors

Im glad you might be one of the few good ones. To bad most are not like you. Manny earn the term I used every day they strap on there gun, badge, and attitude. Didn't mean to offend but I hate cops in general with a sick twisted passion as most are bad, while having a high apprecition for those that do it right. My favorite teacher in HS was a full time teacher/part time police officer. Amazing guy. Right now my interaction count is at 5 good cops to dozens of ones who are less then addiquate human beings

You keep fighting for the good ones and I'll keep hating every day that the bad ones give you guys a bad name. :thumb:

There are a lot of things that are "technically" against the law but that doesn't mean you should get tickets and go to court. A little slack would be nice....especially while there are people out there breaking into Jeeps every day!

You can be busted for jaywalking, spiting, and in SC every adult male must bring a rifle to church on Sunday in order to ward off Indian attacks.

Just because it's "technically" a law doesn't make it right.

The Judge should have said...

"Really!?....you're holding up important criminal cases with THIS?"

very true!! in a certain city in florida (starts with a p and cannot remember) everyone legally must have $50 or $100 in their pockets at all times... this law was instituted in the 1800s to cut down on the amount of poor people, yet there are homeless people there today. not all laws are enforced and many SHOULD NOT... the legal system is broken and messed up...

I don't understand how it fits, in all honesty the vehicle was manufactured without a roof, the roof is added later. Its an add on and nothing more, you can ride around with no roof all you want.
