bigger tires?

I'd like to put a 3"-4" lift on my jeep. Would it look goofy with the tires I have on now? (31 X 10.50) If it would, should I just wait until my tires are worn out and buy bigger tires and add the lift kit?

Thanks for your opinions!

personally, it wouldn't look goofy to me. I drove around a long time with 3-4" of lift and 31" tires. I've had people ask me if I planned for bigger tires, but theyd also say the jeep looks great.

getting bigger tires before the lift is like putting the cradle before the horse.

I don't think you will get the look you are going for, but I don't think it would look bad enough to not do it. Many people have to do their projects in steps to make it affordable. If you were looking at 6 inches or so, I would say wait for the new tires, but with 3-4" you should be fine until you can save up for the new tires. Go for it! It will also give you a greater understanding and appreciation for how your Jeep handles and reacts with various combinations of lift and tire sizes.

x2 with getting the lift first. And yes, imho, it will look a little odd with the smaller tires and the 3-4'' lift untill you get 33's. A couple other things to consider.1) do you have 4 or 6 cyl? ..2) what gear ratio do you have now? I have a 6cyl TJ that came with a 307 ratio, 5speed tranny. I re-geared to 410's because I'm 33's. I got performance my performance back.

I am sure Tripp will pitch in some where along the line. I vote get the lift run it for a while, work the kinks out while you have the regular tires on there. Then you will know what is a suspension problem, (i.e. noises and vibes), and it's not just the new tires.

I have been running a 4inch lift with 28's for almost a year now. waiting on the tires to wear out.

Good luck, post before and after pictures!

I'm running 32'' on a 3'' lift. I'm using my stock wheels so I get some rub on control arms when turning fully in either direction. Might put on spacers.
