How much backspacing are you looking for? And how much do you currently have?

I honestly don't know, I bought my jeep with aftermarket wheels. They don't stick out at all. Here's a pic

Right now I'm installing a 4.25 inch lift and wanted spacings to widen me out. I want it to look pretty obvious that they are wide, and i don't think 1.5 would do that

What size tires are you thinking of running 33x12.5 I'm guessing?

You'll need about 4.25-3.75" bs for those. Only way to check your bs is to take the wheel off and measure. And a wheel spacer over 1.5" isn't really a good idea anyway. But I doubt you'll need a spacer over 1.5". Even if your wheel had 5.75" of bs, a 1.5" spacer would put it at 4.25" of bs. That's how much bs I have and people definitely notice that my tires are wide. Haha

Looks like 4.5 or 5. Whatever stock is. Money permitting you could buy some black procomps or cragars with 3.75 backspacing and get all 5 for about 250 or so. I have 3.75 backspacing

Heres 3.75 without the flares on while they were being painted. With the flares they stick out a good 3-4 inches. Tires are 33x12.5

The measurement for back spacing confuses me. Smaller is more? Mine are probably stock, so say mine are 5. If I got 1.5 inch wheels spacers then it would turn into 3.5 of bs?

I was thinking about just getting new wheels, but I like my design as they are. If wheel spacers don't work out I might get some Mickey thompsons or pro comps .

Ebay...tons of em...I think that companies like spidertrax don't make bigger than 1.5 inch suggests quality declines at this size...the relationship between lug nut and depth of spacer would worry me...

Well then question answered. You have 5.25" of bs. Which means if you got 1.5" spacers, you'd effectively have 3.75" of bs. That would stick the wheels out about as far as most like them. And it'll be plenty far.

And your previous bs calculation is correct. More bs means a lower number. And the more bs you have (lower numerically) the farther your tires and wheels stick out.

X2. I think the safer route is new wheels with new backspacing. From my knowledge, wheel spacers are mainly used to prevent rubbing from bigger tires and mainly used in smaller sizes, hence why they are quite difficult to find in sizes larger than 1.5. Sure theyll work but like i said, if youve got money for new wheels thats what id do (btw procomp has a sale going on for basic bullet hole wheels on on 4wd, buy 4 get 1 free with 20 dollar shipping for the whole set.)
Edit: sorry that sale is over now i just checked. No buy 4 get 1 but shipping is still 19.95 for sets of 4 or 5

And I'll give it a x3 on new wheels should be your ultimate goal as a true fix. Spacers are ok but real wheels with the correct bs is what you really need.

Flip your rim over and lay a piece of wood over it.
BS is the distance between the mating surface on the back of the rim to the bottom of the piece of wood.
In this pic, the ruler is measuring the BS.
So the bigger the number, the less the rims will stick out.

Nearly all stock rims are 5.5" BS (I think )

I'm going to be running 33's by 12.5. And I want them to stick out as much as possible. What size do I get? I need them to be 15 but how wide and what back spacing? Thanks!

If those are the wheels you want, get the 15x8 with 4.0" of bs

15x8 with 4.0 bs. The 15x8 will be cheaper and the tires will be cheaper too (more common size). And 4.0 is the lowest # available so thats what you want! 3.75 is lowest i think ive seen and is what i have so .25 will be almost unnoticable and look great! That wheel looks awesome btw!

Oh and one other thing, if a shop gives you shit about putting a 12.5" wide tire on a 8" wide wheel, tell them to just do it. Some shops will go by the books. I know Goodyear says their 33x12.5 mtr w/Kevlar can only be mounted on wheels down to 8.5" wide. I told my guy at the shop to just go ahead and do it anyway because I knew it was ok. Then he said he knew it was fine too, just had to have my permission first.

General rule of thumb is multiply rim width by 1.5. The result should be max tire width. But TONS of people do 12.5 wide tires on 8 inch rim with zero issues. Like i said, and pstov too, its just a general rule...

Not sure what state your in but some states will stop you and ticket you if your tires stick out past the flares. It.s just one more thing the police can use to stop you and give you a hard time.
