Bikini Top Install

OK guys, don't laugh, I'm new to the jeep thing and not too mechanically inclined, but I will be trying to install a no drill channel and a new bikini top soon. The instructions are horrible.
When I install the channel, what holds the front of the bikini in place and where does it lay in the channel? How does it attach and stay in place? I know of only 2 places that the channel attaches to the windshield. Can anyone help?

Are you replacing a hardtop or a soft top?

The channel piece clamps in to the two notches in the windshield header that your soft top uses to lock down. The bikini top has a plastic strip on it that fits into a notch in the front of the channel. The sides usually either lock into the door frame brackets (like the soft top) or wrap around the rollbar. The back attaches with web straps.

Not the best write-up but the only one I know of: Bestop Bikini Top and Header Install

Good luck

I have a hard top on it. I think I know where everything else goes...just wondering about the front of the bikini. Do I completely install the header channel first, then put the bikini on? I noticed Mopar has a header and bikini "all in one".
I can just tell I'll end up saying a few choice words with the initial install. I'm just trying to prepare myself for it.
Thanks for replying and helping out!!

I looked at the instructions and I think that may reduce my foul language when I go to install....Thanks very much.

Be careful with the no-drill header. The nutsert things on mine started spinning, and I had to get out the grinder to get my header off.

I have used both styles. What I really want is the Mopar all in one piece with the built in header.

T-bone - it's really easy to do. i figured mine out without instructions and if i can do it, anyone can do it.

but.. i got my top with mu jeep when i bought it. it didn't come with those sweet door surround things though that are in the pictures in that tutorial. i would LOVE to have those!!! as it is, rain water collects on the top and when i turn it all dumps into the cab. if i leave the window rolled down it all dumps outside through the open window, so either way i get wet. haha!

seriously, anyone know where i can buy those?

The stealership, best top dot com, 4wp, etc.

Sometimes, you can find them on craigslist, but usually, they are coming with a top.

Get them on asap because you're top will rip itself up in the wind without the surrounds to hold it taut.

Thanks guys for all your help. I spent a couple hours in the garage last night and put it on. It was a PITA for the first time, but I think I got it figured out. This is the safari top, and I had more trouble with the very back straps. I couldn't go around the bar and around the seatbelt clip and still have enough slack to buckle the strap.
The cool weather may have retracted the top a little too, causing it to be more difficult.

as soon as i read that i remembered how mine installs. it must be slightly different than the one in the tutorial. it has fabric that wraps around the roll bar and velcros to itself to keep it taught. i don't think it will work the way the one in the tutorial is shown. bummer.

i have both a bikini and a safari top. you will figure it out. i keep one or the other with me (usually the bikini as i also have a tonneau cover for the back seat area) so if i'm out and i get caught in a storm i can throw one on real fast and stay a little dry. i can do them in a few minutes time now.
