Bikini top questions

On my 99 TJ there is already a header track installed (with screws), any chance this came from the factory? If so, what bikini top would I need to get. Bought a new Bestop 52521-37 that supposedly fits 97-02 at a deal but the header allows the leading edge that slides into the header to just pull right out, so I'm wondering what top I need to get using this header or do you think the proper Bestop header would use the same screw pattern as what is installed now?

Thanks

Is it (the header track) mounted to the inside of the windshield frame?
Our 97 had the same, ended up having to remove it and install the Bestop to the front (outside) track where the soft top installs.

I still haven't figured out what the inside header was for.

Yep, mounted on inside just below top of windshield. So let me get this straight, you're saying you mount the Bestop header to the outside of the windshield? That doesn't seem right, I must be missing something in translation.

Thanks

I had the same issue. I bought the same bestop as you did and had a header already in the jeep. Same problem the plastic piece on the top was smaller than the header channel and pulled right out. I bought the bestop screw on channel recommended for the top and problem solved. The new header channel is narrower and the plastic piece on the top slides in and fits nice and tight. The new header screw pattern was the same as the original header that was mounted on there so didn't have to drill new holes.

Thanks sinjin, I figured as much but nice to hear from someone else that has experienced the same situation. Also good to know that it will go in the same place as the old one. Just ordered the one that Bestop says will work.
