Body Lift questions from a noob

I just got an 03 sahara. It has 31" tires on 15" rims and thats it.

I want to put a body lift on it and im thinking 2". Would a 2 inch body lift be to much? The jeep is a daily driver. I will be doing a lift but not soon. The tires are almost brand new. They look very big for the jeep as of now. I will do a full lift kit with a new set of tires when i need a new set.

Will a 2" body lift cause any problems?
What all is their to do to actually raise the body?

Thanks for the help and loving the jeep so far.

General consensus around here is to not go beyond a 1.25" BL.

IMO get a JKS BL of about 1.25... I would also add the MML as well. Fairly inexpensive..and will make your JEEP look better. When you are ready to do your SL, if you get 2-2.5 inch lift you SHOULD than be able to run 33" tires and "not rub" as long as you replace your wheels at the same time.....basically doing it one time and doing it right...and the BL will make for a little more room for the 31"s but probably really don't need it......

I will have to ditch the 2" BL now. If i do a BL it will be the 1.25"

What is the MML?

Would a simple 2" budget boost kit be worth it? Again i wont be able to lift any until i need new tires. My tires are almost new.

My next idea would be
2" BB lift & 1.25" BL (any thoughts on this)

MML=Motor Mount Lift...this will help keep drive line angles in place less chance of vibes...makes it "easier" since everything is moved the same amount.

I waited and went with an OME lift myself, after I wore out 2 sets of tires, and I am very happy with it here is a Pic.....the "plan" came from some of the old timers on here...it rides better than new and does most everything I ask....it is "not done" yet want to do an SYE and TT...Slip Yoke Eliminator, and Tummy Tuck...and re gear and a locker in the rear.

I actually recommend a body lift now that I have one, a lot of guys will tell you to stay away from it. It gives you space between your frame and body when working on it making some jobs easier. As said previously body lifts can be a nightmare as well If you go to high, 1.25" is the best size.

IS a 1.25" body lift and a 2" budget boost a good idea? It seems to be 3.25" of lift for under 300$ I could swing that right now.

Can someone put up a pic of 3.25" lift on 31s

If by budget boost you mean spacers, there is nothing wrong with it. I run 1.25" body lift, 3" suspension lift, and spacers. Never had a problem with them but its not really anything to brag about.

Why not wait for the new tires and then do the BL, MML, and SL all at once. Those 31" tires you mentioned as being big for the Jeep are stock for some TJ's and you do not need any lift to run them. Keep in mind that you will also need new longer shocks/bumpstops with spacers or SL. Avoid spacer lifts if you can. They may cause coil bind and getting a SL will get you new springs. Just wait and do it right. Enjoy and get to know your Jeep. It is already offroad capable as is.

I was only thinking about the BL and spacers as a visual upgrade for now. I could see doing the 1.25" BL at 121$. The 2" budget boost (spacers) would not be hard to find the cash for either.

It will take me quite some time to learn the offroad abilities of this rig in stock condition much less and mods. This is my 1st jeep and 1st 4x4. I have always been a motorcycle guy (still am).

Ive purchased a 1" lift body bushing kit. Taking the whole body loose, why not put in new bushings. This covers both !! Now just find time to work on personal projects.....

Would i have to get new shocks if i do a 1.25"BL and a 2" spacer lift?

Could i do the MML say in a few weeks after the others?
