Body Lifts????

I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler 4.0L 5spd with 30" tires. I am looking at giving it a more aggressive look and was looking at getting a body lift. I am looking at a lift between 1"-2". I also do not want to spend a ton of money(something up to $200). Do these lifts need any modifications to be done to the jeep? Are they easy to install(I have very little mechanical experience)? Reviews/Pics/Other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Better install some 2" spring spacers. You only have to put them on top of your springs.

Do you suggest any specific ones? Do they require modifications? Photos if possible?

get the cheapest spring spacers that you can find. In the rear you also need 2 2" bumpstop extenions.

thats a 1.5" spring spacer kit:
97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ Coil Spring Spacer Lift Kit 1.5":eBay Motors (item 300323367706 end time Nov-14-09 05:43:58 PST)

there are also 2" kits available.

Do these wear out other parts on the jeep? I hear that when you add lift to the jeep it wears out parts.

You might get some extra wear on things like steering, u-joint, ball joints etc.. if you run larger tires, but a lift by itself will not cause an issue.

Are there any special body lifts/coil spacer lifts that you recommend?

I installed the Skyjacker 2" spring lift and Im very satisfied with it. Had to tighten up the front end and realign after, but my jeep looks good with 32's under it. I will post pics tomorrow. I bought it from Quadratec.com for $260It also comes with new shocks. I thinks it a pretty good product, for the price and ease of installation. here's the link... 2" Standard Lift Kits for '97-'06 Jeep Wrangler - Quadratec

A suspension lift (coils or spacers) may result in vibes, even with such a small lift like 1.75". A body lift won't.

My 2" spring/spacer lift didnt cause any vibration issues... but you must get it tightened it up and get it realigned.

Which type of shocks did you get? The first thing people complain about the type of lift they get is the shocks, so which do you recommend/prefer.

I got the Hydo shocks. I heard that the Nitro's are real stiff and would beat you to death, but not sure since Ive never have nitro shocks. The Hydro's are alot stiffer than the stock shocks, thats for sure!!

Does that make the ride quality hard to deal with(I dont want something that I can feel every crack in the road I go over)?
