Bought My Jeep - FINALLY

I finally found MY Jeep today.
I made sure I was there 4 minutes after the dealership opening their doors this morning.

2003 Wrangler Sahara
6 Cylinder, Automatic
$6900
Black Exterior / Khaki Interior
Tinted Windows
Almost immaculate condition, inside & out. (Right front milk jug is bent, A little rust behind the rear bumper.)
Runs great.

Only 1 owner before me.

193,000 + miles

Now, before you start knocking me for buying a Jeep with such high mileage -
  • I plan on keeping this Jeep. When the motor finally gives out on me, I'll just drop another one in it, & keep right on going;
  • I posted a thread last week, asking how TJ owners' engines were holding up, with 200,000 miles or more. The majority of the responses were positive.
According to my insurance company, the VIN says that I have a FACTORY INSTALLED alarm system. When I remove the ignition key from the ignition, I can hear a "chirping" noise for a few seconds.

I have searched the owner's manual, but so far, I have found nothing about this alarm system.

Anyone have any idea about finding out about the alarm system?
I'd hate to trigger it myself, and not know how to disarm it.

I would have posted this thread earlier, but I have just been driving around, enjoying my new ride.

I forgot to mention -

The rear view mirror automatically adjusts when it detects high beams.

It also has the Speaker Pods, instead of the Sound Bar.
The lights in the Speaker Pods slowly dim out once you close the doors. (I have never owned a vehicle where the lights slowly dimmed out. Either the lights were on or they were off. There was no in-between.)

It also has the Fold-n-Tumble rear seat.

Wow.... Great price (especially for an LJ) and it doesn't look like there's a scratch on it. Awesome find.

I knew that this was one sweet Jeep.
That's why I got there as early as I did.

It's not an LJ.
I think that hardtop just gives the illusion of an LJ.

Congrats. I think you made a great purchase, that's a decent price for what you got.

My data says all TJ Saharas had the slow-dimming-to-off interior lighting, some Sport and Rubicon models also got that feature as an option in some years. All TJ's got the fold and tumble rear seat, unless it was an SE where the rear seat was an option in some of the TJ years.

I cannot find any data that indicates a factory installed alarm system in any TJ, but I could be wrong on that, you should get your Build Sheet, that will tell you all the details of how your TJ was built.

x2 definitely not an LJ. Correct me if I'm wrong but LJs were only made in 05 & 06.

There are only 2 other people where I work that know anything about Jeeps.

Even though mine is a 2003, it looks so good, I went around telling the non-jeepers that is was a 2012. To those guys, all Jeeps look the same.

I finally told them the truth. They couldn't believe the great condition it is in, being that it is a 2003.

Heck, I still can't believe that I was lucky enough to be at the right place, at the right time, & just fell into this deal.

My wife told me that the right Jeep for me would come along.

"security system" Yes, but it is just the sentry key. Chipped key.

The frame looks really good.

I took a few pictures of the motor. The motor and all associated accessories look really clean. (They don't look like someone just wiped them down. They really look clean.)

I used my phone to take the pictures. I hope they come out ok.
