BPE and Stock Shocks and Lift

Will using bar pin eliminators allow the use of the stock shocks? I read that non-JKS BPE's would add two inches to the stock shocks, thus allowing the use of the stock shocks with a lift. I need new shocks but won't be installing a lift for a few months. I'd like to get Bilstein HD or Rancho 9000 shocks now and not have to buy new shocks later. If not, I might go with OME, as I was told by ARB that they can be run without a lift. I'd appreciate any advice.

don't buy BPE's just to use stock length shocks with a lift, you're cheating yourself. the point of a lift is to gain uptravel and downtravel...you aren't gaining much if you use shocks with less travel (like stock shocks).

OME shocks can be run without a lift...the fronts will fit without bumpstop extension, but the rear will require 1.5" bumpstop extension, or cutting the mounts off and relocating them.

honestly, just suffer with stock shocks until you can afford to do the lift and shocks together. you may even be able to find someone giving their good condition stock shocks away.

What do you think of doing a BB with the OME shocks and upgrading to springs down the road? Thanks for the advice. Have a good evening.

not a bad combination, good for a budget. just understand you won't gain any uptravel in the rear, and little in front...since you need 2" bumpstop extension in the rear (same height as the BB), and 1" for the front is recommended.

The BB + stock springs reduces the front spring compression room enough to bring the spring close to coil bind. If you don't install bumpstop extension in the rear you will get coil bind and possibly spring damage.

I would say wait and do a lift once it would probably be cheaper and a whole lot easier. But it is your jeep and of course your choice thats just my 2 cent.
