Brakes a little sluggish?

Did a test drive today and have a question/concern. During the drive everything was perfect for the most part, but I did notice the brakes seemed a little sluggish and there was even a slight shimmy coming down from freeway/interstate speeds (no issue from 45ish and slower aside from seeming a little sluggish). Now, I've been driving a Chevy Cruze for the past few weeks as a rental so I realize my reference level might be a tad off , but I was thinking the brakes should have a little more bite to them (most likely pads) and wasn't sure if I should have the rotors checked out or if that's just a quirk of the jeep. What's the consensus?

That's a worn pad/warped rotor issue you're describing and it's one of the easiest malfunctions to fix on just about any vehicle. If there's not enough pad to bite properly it will take more effort to stop so that may explain the sluggishness as well.

I'm sure we could help even more with a little more information like year/mileage of the Jeep.

1999 w/ 82k miles on it. Pristine minus said concern

I figured as much, but being new to the Jeep scene I wasn't sure if there were some gnomes I wasn't aware of yet!
