Brand new member... Looking for advise about an affordable diff locker or similar...

I have an 02 TJ and want to find a quality and afforbable product to help my rear wheels hook up. My TJ has a stock dana 44 and I am not necessarily looking for a locker but just something similar that is much better than the factory limited slip. Also front is a stock dana 30 and I've done nothing to it. Which one should I work on first, front or back?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Is it your daily driver? Do you need 4H in the winter on the road?
In the rear I would only install a selectable locker or a LSD like a truetrac.

In the front I would install a selectable locker if you need 4H on the road. Or an automatic and cheap lunchbox locker if you don┤t need 4H on the road.

I drive it everyday and do need 4h in the winter. I put less than 6k on it a year and about 1/5 is off road. Mostly trails but a little bit of mud. It's lifted 3 to 4" and has a set of 33" goodyear mtr kevlar. Other than that minor performance mods. I guess I'm just looking for extra off road traction so I can get through some tougher spots.

Detroit True-trac unless you plan on horse-beating your rig every weekend. It sounds like that might work but for 4/5 of the riding you do, then maybe a selective off/on locker might be the best whereas the true-trac limited slip for a few hundred bones.

The Detroit TrueTrac IMO is the best limited slip on the market. The TrueTrac is simple to maintain, unlike regular clutch type limited slips, it requires NO friction additives to the gear oil. Additionally, in the snow and ice it behaves similarly to an open diff, without the quirks of a clutch based limited slip. On the road, there isn't any erratic behavior or slop while shifting lanes or accelerating in a turn from a stop.

The TrueTrac operates and mirrors the Torsen type limited slip used in the H1 Hummers.

Small rocks and tires < 33" are within the operating specs of the TrueTrac...

I am very satisfied with my F&R TrueTracs and I didn't have any issues with the trail I was on depicted below.
