Build Sheet Questions.

Hey all - Has anyone else had errors on the build sheet they received from Jeep? Just received mine and there are a couple of errors.

1) it lists a Dana 44/226mm rear axle, but from what I can tell I have a C8.25 (it's possible that I'm mistaken and this is a Dana 35, but it looks larger and the plug location matches that of the C8.25). It most definitely isn't a Dana 44.

Does anyone know if a C8.25 would be used as a substitute for a D44 and listed as such? -- I have a 2003 TJ X

2) it lists my 2003 Jeep TJ X as being 4 speed automatic transmission. However, it's a 5 spd manual .

There are a few other "errors" but these are small and may have been switched at the dealer (ie. lists cloth seats, but mine has vinyl/pleather, etc.)

Cheers.

Are you sure you have the right VIN? Thats odd that the build sheet is wrong... Can you post a pic of your rear axle? Tj's came with either a Dana 35 or Dana 44 stock

Not to hijack, but what's a build sheet and how do I get one?

OP, did you buy the jeep new or used? Is it possible a PO made modifications.

@Jeepwayoflife - I double checked and the VIN # is correct. I'll try and get a pic and post a little later today.

@Flashole - I bought it used from a dealership. Only 43k miles on it and small road tires so I doubt any mods were performed. A build sheet is a list of your specific jeep specs as it came from production. You can contact jeep, provide your VIN and get the list. Sorry, but don't have the link to the site.

Here's a pic. After looking at the image I can see "DANA" on the plug, so I guess it is a Dana 35.

That's too bad... oh well. Do you think I'll be ok running 31X10.5x15 Duratracs on stock rims (15x7)? My rear axle gear ratio is 3.07. It's my daily driver, but I do some mild trail riding.

Yep you should be fine. I have had 3.73 and 33" on my Dana 35 for 10 years now with no problems, and I have been on some rather rough trails. Just drive smart and don't lock it.

Awesome. Thanks. I'm still deciding on size tires. I may just go with a 30" BFG or Hankook A/T just to be sure and to put less strain on my engine.
